Lugano, Switzerland
Has anyone here ever been to Lugano? I am thinking about going there sometime this week. Apparently it's hella close and I need a little break from this place... don't get me wrong, this place is beautiful but..... anyways.

Re: Lugano, Switzerland
I've been living very close to Lugano for several years. Nice small city by lake Ceresio. The city itself is nice to walk through, to go shopping or sit and have a meal. There aren't much monuments to see, but the lakeside is very pretty and there are some very nice spots to get a view on the city and lake like on top of San Salvatore. You can also travel a bit farther to Morcote, which is a really beautiful little town also by the lake. Bellinzona is also only about 30-40 min drive from Lugano, there are three beautiful castles to see there. South of Lugano, near Capolago, you can go on top of Monte Generoso, if it's a beautiful and clear winter day you can a super view of the Alps, and sometimes even see the Matterhorn (90km away) with the binoculars.

Re: Lugano, Switzerland
Man, I wish I had the funds to stay there for a week or two. I was there 4 years ago, great spot. Rent a motorboat and pleasure-cruise a little over the lake. On the opposite shore is a funky "little" mountain which claimed to have the worlds steepest cog-wheel train. If you have a car and some spare time, drive up the scenic Maggia valley, highly recommended.
