Fake Rock Hard Test Pressings?
I just noticed I've been seeing quite a few Rock Hard test pressings (12") on Ebay recently, selling for over $300 a pop. There's one up there now (https://www.ebay.com/itm/BEASTIE-BOY...AOSw45xclop s) for sale with a different type of marker than I've seen in the past.
Does anyone know how to validate these as authentic? Given how sloppy test pressings are (just hand-written labels) and how expensive they are, I imagine they are at a high likelihood of being bootlegged. Edit: Also, no offense if this is someone's Ebay posting from the message board. I'm not implying that this is fake, just that it looks different so I'm wondering how to verify these things at all. |

P.S. The seller is Xavier Garcia. He's a loooong time collector and an exceptional human being. If he believes it's legit I wouldn't even sweat it.

Good to know - thanks!
Looks like he's unloading a few items on Ebay. Clearly knows the market prices too ;-) |

Re: Fake Rock Hard Test Pressings?
He's not going to get suckered. He's a pro. That's why I respect him so much (aside from the being an excellent human being part). I've done 15-20 sales/trades with him and he's never once failed to deliver. He helped build my collection.
