![]() Thanks Kid P for posting this.
I always thought of 3rd Bass as the music industry's bid to cash in on the Beasties' success. I dissed them and dismissed them. Recently, I've been hearing more and more 3rd Bass and MC Serch tracks spun on turntable.fm and it has made me rethink my earlier rejection of them. They had great beats and some really dope lyrics, much fresher than most of the whackness you hear today. Imagine my surprise when I found this interview between Serch and MCA, who I thought were mortal enemies. Very cool for Serch to post this in memoriam. Respect.

![]() I'm surprised Serch did not ask him about how he dissed him on Professor Booty

![]() Serch has been graciously and constantly apologizing for his hating (and moronic dis track) since about the mid 90's. He has called the Beastie Boys legends. That was cool of him to release that interview right after Yauch's passing.
Pete Nice penned probably the best musical obituary for MCA that I have read, entitled Requiem for a White MC. Much thanks to 2 sons of the Beastie Boys |

![]() Glad the Beastie Boys made timeless tracks...Beastie Boys didn't follow any current trends. true and fearless innovators.

![]() On the Pauls Boutique Commentary Yauch says during this interview Serch detailed a visit of his at Mike D and The Captain's apartment during the CYH era....Serch came over to talked to Mike about working with Russell Simmons, and as Serch was leaving, he got hit in the head with an open water bottle from Mike's window above...nothing mentioned about this in the interview it must have been a side conversation off air. Would have loved to hear Serch's side of the story and Yauch's reaction!

![]() I don't know. I never listen to the radio anymore and this whole thing annoyed me.
It was good to hear Yauch, but all the inbetween shit bummed me out. I may be the only one.

![]() MC Serch was one of the people interviewed for Spin's History of the Beastie Boys article in 1998. He's had respect for a long time.
