Re: MCA Tributes
Turntable-collective C2C performing a tribute to MCA at the Lowlands festival:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJOuWXJdJpk (starts around 2:44) Thanks to my friend Susanne in the Netherlands, who sent me the link to this vid. She and her friends were there and they knew C2C were going to do a tribute to Yauch. So, to enjoy it in style, they got some pannenkoeken and ate them on the grass while enjoying the tunes. "..........when I'm in Holland......." I love Beastiefans. |

Re: MCA Tributes
“Like a Version” is a Friday-morning segment on the Australian radio station Triple J, where artists play live versions of some of their favourite songs.
Aussie hip hop group the Hilltop Hoods paid tribute to MCA with their version of “So What’cha Want”. The interview at the start is pretty great (0:13). Interesting to see a two-way division of the lyrics. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dY8vf4RWNE4&feature=plcp IMO they fucken nailed it. Didn’t attempt to replicate/mimic the original (impossible feat); just stuck to their own style. I thought it worked. ( vs on YouTube would suggest I’m not alone.) Also – the rounded Australia pronunciation of “can’t”……. @ 1:46 ie……..“you cahrn’t front on THAT”………....….made me grin. <3 |

so maybe a lot of you guys have seen this now but i just found and watched it for the first time yesterday - awesome tribute video to MCA — http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBVGo...ure=plpp_video and also, check out this new video of this guy, pretty distinct style from the Beasties, but he's singing at a lot of different spots in NYC, including a couple of the new MCA murals - check 1:50 and 3:02 for starters also the Confucius statue in Chinatown and happy dancing kids at 3:45 - there's a line or two in here that remind me of "why do politicians always want to fight?" from "we got the" from to the 5 boroughs also i think Yauch and the guys would like the statue of Gandhi from Union Square Park in NYC (1:38) interesting stuff

Re: MCA Tributes
I was thinking about the accent on this. This is pretty cool. I don't usually like veastie covers too much. if I just listen and minimize the video, its cool.

Re: MCA Tributes
Just found this on Al Jazeera, not sure if it's been posted. Actually, I wasn't sure whether I should post it, either, since the comments are fairly horrible (not about Yauch so much, more general internet comments horribleness). But I thought the text was interesting, coming from an unexpected source:

Re: MCA Tributes
One of the local breweries here in SF brewed a session stout in honor of MCA called the MCA stout two years ago. They just won sliver at the Great American Beer Festival for that beer. Way to go 21st Amendment.
