Re: Adam Yauch - 1964-2012
Adam would have been so impressed to see the Mars Curiosity landing yesterday, while at the same time, the news out of Wisconsin (terrorist hate crimes against the Sikh community- probably because they were mistaken for Muslim people ) would have hurt his heart...
are there quotes from Yauch or Adrock from the post 9/11 days when they organized New Yorkers Against Violence? I remember a Sikh man was murdered in the days after 9/11 and I seemed to remember Horovitz speaking out... the Beastie Boys preached against intolerance before it was cool.

I apologize if this has already been posted, but this is a list of the top Google searches (I'm guessing of 2012) and Yauch made the list at #2

Re: Adam Yauch - 1964-2012
In my life I've lost both parents and a brother. I will often dream of them and it brings to the forefront all of the grief I usually keep tamped down during the day. Last night was the first time I ever dreamed of someone I never met and did not know and experienced the same type of feelings the dreams of my family do. RIP Adam Yauch, your legacy will never be forgotten.

Six months today.
Thinking of you, Mr. Hornblower... You continue to be an inspiration to me in so many ways. This line, especially, is one I refer to often: "Try to keep clear of that hate and spite, so I keep my mind still like the still of night." What a remarkable human being.

Re: Adam Yauch - 1964-2012
I was watching Style Wars today and it made me think of the excitement I had when I first heard Run DMC and the Fat Boys around 10 yrs old. Then the Beasties came along and musically my life changed. That nostalgia is something the Beasties brought back to me with every record release or NY area show. It still hurts very much losing Yauch. I know it's selfish but I also know I will never experience that excitement and anticipation that the Beasties brought with every release or show. Hope everyone is maintaining.

Watching that Sandy MSG concert the other night, it hit me like a punch in the gut that the Beasties absolutely would've turned shit out on that stage. Sigh.

Re: Adam Yauch - 1964-2012
Saw this thread and can't believe its been almost a year...made me think of Adam aka MCA and his family (without a question family includes the remaining Beasties of the mic). I hope they're all staying uplifted and reminded of the glorious gift he helped give the world. Most importantly, hope their thoughts are filled with all the happy memories they shared with him and not his untimely departure. Blessings to all personally affected.

Re: Adam Yauch - 1964-2012
I'm sure this has been posted before but there is a really nice quote from someone who worked with Adam on a lot of the Tibet stuff.
http://www.npr.org/blogs/therecord/2...-of-adam-yauch ~ "It is an understatement to say that Adam Yauch changed all of our lives because he changed us so completely — through his music, his activism, and his friendship. Because his presence in our lives was so large, so shall be his absence. And also his legacy. - Erin Potts ~ |

Please get over it. I knew Yauch and I have accepted the fact he is dead. You have no excuse to be on here moaning about your loss.

Re: Adam Yauch - 1964-2012
I might be an asshole, but all I know there is an excellent band that needs to move on and release some fuckin' new music y'all. I am absolutely positive that Yauch would want that and at the same time think I was an asshole. Which I probably am.
