It's people magazine. I wouldn't take it to personal.

Sorry I guess I expected them to do something... MORE. I mean they had a special tribute issue for Whitney.

What covers will he get if any. I know Rollingstone won't let us down. i hope.

I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to come off rude. I just meant its people magazine and the people who read it only care about gossip.

I'm hoping Rolling Stone, Spin, URB, Blender (is that still a mag?)

I don't get how tributes work in the pop media, but I'll be supper upset if these magazines don't do one and Whittney got blasted on evèrything.

No you weren't and you're right. I am just over-emotional lately so I think almost anything has been setting me off. :/ I was looking at the hip hop magazines and didn't see anything yet.. I know NME has something special planned too. It's only a week in so I guess I need to give it time.

I'm with you. I've been on edge of tears all week.

I was just in Ameoba Records (record shop in San Francisco) and this kid passed me saying " I wonder how much their charging for Beastie CDs now that MCA's dead" I wanted to fucking strangle him.

Then I went into a cloying store that has always had this giant photo of them from the LTI era and I just stared at it.

It's good to hear NME has something planned.

op: i felt the same way with People, but now I understand a bit more. Yauch was in a famous band, but he himself is low-key famous. He liked it that way, which was admirable.

Rolling Stone let me (us) down, too: He just got a page and a half in today's new issue.

I'm really hoping some publisher will put together a tribute mag. They will at some point. They have to!

And I got ticked when I read a comment on Ain'tItCoolNews that said that he would just be replaced because the Beastie Boys were just like Marky Mark And The Funky Bunch.

Ugh sorry you had to hear that. Not sure how I would have reacted!

So I broke down and bought people magazine. I am going to scan it for you guys. In the article, A friend of MCA's said that he didn't want to talk about his cancer because he didn't want to burden people. *sob*

It's a short article but that comment just gutted me again. MCA you could never burden us!

NME better have something better in next weeks issue! I bought it for the first time in fucking ages cause it said Adam Yauch Tribute. No it was one article and two posters! I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that it's still early otherwise that is an insult! Syd Barrett got a full issue and cover when he passed away Yauch deserves at least that and so much more!!

Well look here. It's NME Alabama

Adam deserves a cover somewhere.

I bought that too, and was royally disappointed! Sort it out, NME.

Well I bought a few magazines and will be uploading them soon. Billboard did a two page tribute. I really do hope that these magazines are just needing more time to do a proper tribute.

Billboard Music Awards are tonight. I heard on some ad that MCA would be part of a tribute. I'm not getting my hopes though. It may just be a mention in the rememberence portion of the show. That would totally not be cool.

Regarding People magazine, I've subscribed to it for years. I was surprised that he got 2 pages. I was just expecting two sentences. To make the cover of People, I think there has to be some sort of controversy surrounding the death. If someone that has been recently sick or very old, doesn't fare well to be put on the cover. I was very happy to see a full page dedicated to the picture of Adam holding his daughter.

Well, at first I thought what whiz Kalifa said was going to be all they had, but they just said they have a tribute from Ce Lo coming up. Not sure how that will work, but OK.

Here's a link to the latest Yauch magazine tributes added to the galleries. Billboard did okay, nothing new but they did talk a lot about his career and less focused on his cancer like RS....

The UK coverage has been shocking in my opinion but I think I was maybe expecting too much really based on my own feelings

Anyway Mojo did an article and Q magazine had one too that had some nice pictures in it but they both basically said the same thing. Both respectful and sympathetic but equally a bit bland. Plus nothing really about him as a director which I always found really interesting, I've not really seen any mentions of Gunnin For That #1 Spot which is a shame cause it was awesome!

(Sorry I dont have a scanner so cant actually upload anything Im just ranting away!!)

Please let me know if you do see any magazines in your area with a great tribute and I will buy it and scan it!

Yauch was a great director so I was a little bummed that his film accomplishments were getting a lot of mention, but then this Chicago event came up and I was happy to know that they will be focusing on his directing.

In this week's People, they published 2 letters from reader's on his passing. That's double the letters published for Sandra Bullock. Props to the reader who scolded them for two paragraphs.
