Ban Escalators!!

Seriously. You'd help solve two problems:
1. The constant running of them uses electricity which generally burns fossil fuels which puts carbon in the air which we breath.
2. People wouldn't be such fat lazy fudgers saving the NHS from so many obesity induced illnesses. Sure they'd moan at first and maybe use the lift/elevator more but when they realise there is a queue they'd soon learn how to put one leg in front of the other.

Same with automatic doors - they waste resources always opening and closing for people who aren't going through but walking past letting cold/warm air in/out making your heating/air con work harder. Use your arms to push or pull!

Yeah, you clearly don't travel the London Underground on a regular/any basis.

It really wouldn't. If the escalators weren't there and it was steps then you wouldn't need all the barriers either side of the escalators making more room to get up the stairs. Covent Garden is a bad example because it was made in the dark ages and todays capacity isn't catered for. However, Canada Water for example have some larger steps that aren't ever over crowded, if they still had a system where the lazy fudgers go on the right then the people who wanted to get a move on can still overtake.

It'll never happen with the TFL but the fancy new buildings should cut out a lot of the escalators, bring back the steps and doors. Lifts for the lazy and hard of mobility and I think the side effect will be mainly positive.

Yes, it would be awesome during the summer when it's like 30 degrees outside and 50 degrees underground, and I'm riding on the underground with hundreds of other people all pressed up against each other having all just been running down literally hundreds of steps.

I know what you are trying to say, if you don't like fat people and want to save the planet fine, but it seems like you haven't thought this through and are being very short sighted about it.
