Default Rizzoli Def Jam Books

I’ve got two brand new copies of Rizzoli New York “Def Jam Recordings: The First 25 Years of the Last Great Record Label” coffee table books signed and dated by Bill Adler (author) and Cey Adams (graphic artists) from the book tour. $300 each.

If anyone’s interested, please let me know. Otherwise, they’ll be on eBay.

Oxtail, rice and peas, and ginger beer.

Dope! I talked to Cey briefly at the show Mike and Adam taped in Philly to pay my respects. Nobody else seemed to know who he was but I was like "he did art for Def Jam, did the Cookie Puss logo, he was in Style Wars god damn it!"

He was THE founding creative director for Def Jam. He created The Drawing Board. He created LOTS of Beasties images (e.g., Hello Nasty). He designed logos for Maroon 5, Foo Fighters, etc. He was commissioned by Adidas to do the Beasties track suits / shoes, and the Muhammed Ali ones. He’s done designs for Burton, Jan Sport. He designed the hip hop wing of EMP Seattle. He designed the MoMA Music 2.0 exhibition. His work inaugurated and is on permanent display at the Smithsonian Museum of African American Culture and History. He has been working for the past five years on murals and canvases all over North America. His new collage works are on display at major galleries in major cities.

I could go on and on...
