Re: New Hip Hop!!
Co-sign, it's a great record. To me it's one of his more personal songs even though he keeps the content ridiculous. That chorus is ill.

Re: New Hip Hop!!
The beat is fucking huge! I can't wait to hear the sonics of this record. Easy Rider and Actin Crazy sound nothing like each other. But both are great records. He rarely raps on wack beats. This record will be HUGE!

I agree! I listened to it on blast in the car on the way to dinner last night. Can't wait for this album. Is there a definitive date?

Re: New Hip Hop!!
New A$AP album is pretty decent. The two album closers Everyday (dat Rod Stewart sample) and Back Home (with mighty Mos) are the highlights for me- looks like they wanted the LP to end on a strong note.
Alchemist's new beat tape Israeli Salad is super nice too. Inspired by a trip to Israel 4 years ago and only just surfacing now, it's an atmospheric, polished reminder that Alchemist is one of the greatest to ever produce hip-hop music. If you haven't already, listen to the Badbadnotgood x Ghostface album Sour Soul. I went to see them perform live together a couple weeks ago and Ghost fits the lounge band leader, blues/jazz frontman role perfectly. The Canadian band backed him exxcellently on a trip through his whole back catalogue and even tackled tracks like Shimmy Shimmy Ya, Kick In The Door and The World Is Yours while Ghost did his best NYC greats karaoke. Although it came out the same time as Mr Wonderful, Earl's new album got totally slept on here. Thought I should mention it as he is one of, if not the greatest poetic lyricist in hip-hop right now.

Re: New Hip Hop!!
I agree with sleeping on his album. I copped it the day it dropped. Listened to it on the way home from NYC to Maine about 4 times. Haven't been back to it since.
L$D is fave track off of ALLA. I agree about Everyday. Shit it tight. I've been mostly listening to Jamie xx and Hudson Mowhake's new LP's. I'm looking forward to Vince Staples debut LP a lot. |

Re: New Hip Hop!!
Vince is literally the only person on the XXL Freshmen cover that I'm aware of and listen to. Does that mean I'm old now? Album will be nice regardless.
L$D is a big track. Definitely going for that Gambino, Weeknd, Frank vibe with that one. In fact, the more I listen to it the more I think ALLA is a perfect impression/compilation of all the styles out in hip-hop right now seen through Rocky's eyes. And he makes them all really, really mysoginistic.

Anyone following the Meek and Drake back and forth?
I thought Back to Back was the strongest so far. |

Re: New Hip Hop!!
Round-up:
Drake killed Meek, Popa Wu embarrassed himself, Gangrene & Mick Jenkins released dope shit, Dre dropped flames, the NWA movie completely rewrote their history and Sean P Da God died which is absolutely devastating.
