Default PB digital EPs

Not really unheard material (unless I’m missing something), but I do like the video versions of those singles - already ripped years ago mind!

glad they finally available for everyone now. i've had vinyl and CD rips for years. the hey ladies, shake your rump and shadrach extended instrumental jams were a staple in my DJ sets and would usually impress the casual Beasties fan.

I added them to my iTunes and I own Love american on vinyl. I’ve never come across Shadrach though so this is nice. Weird though, I have a bootleg cd with some dumb cop and it’s different then this version. Need to dig out the bootleg and double check.

weird. i always thought they didnt include the PB b-sides on the remaster over sample clearance issues. apparently not. i wonder why they omitted them from the remaster.

pretty cool that theyre still releasing harder to find older stuff though, if even material we die hards already have.

They didn't include B-sides on the remaster, and I don't think they are including remastered versions now. They're simply allowing people who didn't buy the HL or SMA singles or the Criterion video anthology to purchase digital versions without buying the hardware.

There’s a little part of me that worries that this is the kind of stuff they had in mind when they talk about having stuff in the vaults.

worst case scenario u are right. i think the "vaults" are the sessions during the G-Son era and TMU era. i think it's a bunch of "jamming" and not complete songs.

but what do i know?

yes, i know. im simply wondering why they didnt choose to remaster the b-sides for the anniversary edition if they are clearly willing to offer up the original b-sides under this pretense.

I was wondering this same thing. Could it be they couldn't release them in a physical form due to clearance issues, but digitally they can get around it? I have no idea.

Keep it on

I don't know, but my best guess is that they tried, and ran into a snag (sample clearance maybe). There was a remastered version of one of the B-sides from Shadrach that was used originally to promote the anniversary edition, and it was from vinyl.

Couldn't you get all those B-Sides with the custom Anthology? That would lead me to believe they just chose not to release them with the remastered Paul's Boutique.

Unless they couldn't release remastered versions for some reason. I only speculate, but I know there were plans to remaster and release at least one of the B sides. I assumed it never happened because of copyright issues.

It could have also been that they didn't have ample access to the source material for all the tracks, or that they didn't want to invest the money. Seemed they were being pretty careful about copyright during the Anthology days. Another thing to consider is that the PB tracks were getting a lot more work in the remastering department than tracks from other albums.

Shake Your Rump and Looking Down The Barrel of a Gun remixes were released last night! They’ve selected really cool artwork for each of these EPs.
