Beastie Boys Music
It was 1 year ago today that "Beastie Boys Music" was released.
Do you think it will be the final official release from the band or do you think more things will come in the future (side projects, unreleased material, etc.)? |

Re: Beastie Boys Music
I don't think so, just based off of interviews I've seen with Adrock since he and Mike started doing media stuff again after Yauch's passing. He keeps referencing a vault of "crap" that they have to "figure out what to do with." I have a theory that this "vault" is like a library... if you will...
There is a massive subterranean cache of government publications, city directories, and sewer plans. Millions and millions of pages, but no one probably wants to actually see them (because they're super boring). Then you have the stuff that's above ground, but way in the back by those old wooden one-arm-bandit desks that got shoved back there in the 80s. They're real books, but they've probably been replaced by like 8 new editions by now, so no one really has any reason to read them. Then there are the main stacks when you walk in. These are some solid reads, but again, ask a librarian to pick out the "best 20." They're probably all a 7 out of 10, and there's a lot of them. Then there's that little wooden book-case at the front. "Staff Picks." Pure fire. My theory is that Mike and Adam each have a list of songs that they thought "I always liked that one," but that never made an album. That's probably the main stacks, and now they're making their staff picks. I also don't know what I'm talking about so there's that. |

Re: Beastie Boys Music
honestly at this point i figure a new BB compilation will come out every 5 or 10 years with the same tracklist but different song order.
Mike has been working on songs with his kids lately so i imagine hell focus his musical energy on that. Adam seems to be content being a dad and smoking weed and watching basketball and baseball. buuuut who knows??? |

Re: Beastie Boys Music
It was their latest greatest hits collection. It got better reviews than Beastie Boys Anthology and Solid Gold Hits. There really is no need to release another greatest hits collection after this. It's why I was wondering if anything else is coming next or is this it...
Track listing "So What'cha Want" 3:36 (from Check Your Head, 1992) "Paul Revere" 3:41 (from Licensed to Ill, 1986) "Shake Your Rump" 3:19 (from Paul's Boutique, 1989) "Make Some Noise" 3:40 (from Hot Sauce Committee Part Two, 2011) "Sure Shot" 3:20 (from Ill Communication, 1994) "Intergalactic" 3:51 (from Hello Nasty, 1998) "Ch-Check It Out" 3:12 (from To the 5 Boroughs, 2004) "(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!)" 3:29 (from Licensed to Ill, 1986) "Pass the Mic" 4:16 (from Check Your Head, 1992) "Don't Play No Game That I Can't Win" 4:11 (from Hot Sauce Committee Part Two, 2011) "Body Movin'" 3:09 (from Hello Nasty, 1998) "Sabotage" 2:58 (from Ill Communication, 1994) "Hold It Now, Hit It" 3:27 (from Licensed to Ill, 1986) "Shadrach" 4:08 (from Paul's Boutique, 1989) "Root Down" 3:32 (from Ill Communication, 1994) "Brass Monkey" 2:37 (from Licensed to Ill, 1986) "Get It Together" 4:05 (from Ill Communication, 1994) "Jimmy James" (Single Version) 3:04 (from Check Your Head, 1992) "Hey Ladies" 3:47 (from Paul's Boutique, 1989) "No Sleep till Brooklyn" 4:09 (from Licensed to Ill, 1986) |

Re: Beastie Boys Music
You can buy it on this very website (https://shopus.beastieboys.com/colle...c-gatefold-2lp)
Of you can find the red and white colored version at Target. Did this really get better reviews than the Anthology? How is that possible? I mean I get that the Anthology stops at Hello Nasty, but for it's time it had so much bonus stuff and unreleased tracks, including pre-LTI stuff. Not to mention the vinyl version was a box set with a full color coffee table book... |
