Exclamation Oh right, I got a job

After being unemployed for 3.5 years I started working last September.

I work at a place where mentally (and otherwise) challenged people can do easy jobs. I'm a driver and a help, as in I help out with the work and then I drive out the finished products. The most exciting thing was finding out how I would react and behave around people like that. I think I did good, although it is a bit tiresome to hear the same stories every day.

Oh well, I just have 4 months left there.

well, that's just awesome then

I produced a 30 minute TV program on a job site for intellectually disabled adults. For one month I would go over in the morning and have lunch with everyone then leave my equipment in a room and do it again the next day. They were cool people but you are right about hearing the same thing over and over again. Ha! They would ask the same questions over and over or tell me the same stories every single day.
When I finished my program one of the workers presented me with a beautiful drawing that they all signed. I have it in my office. The wild thing is that the guy that drew the picture is a non responsive adult but the artwork in phenomenal.

James Brown had a Gulliver head on a Liliputian body & that is why he drank Bacardi.

Years ago I worked in a warehouse and across the way was a very similar sounding organization with developmentally disabled staff...every month or so they would ship a large order out that had to be loaded by forklift...they approached me and I was like sure no problem,we'll do that for you...then I hired this guy to work the dock and found out 3 months later he was charging them cash to load...I punched that guy right the nose...yep...also,congratulations,well done...now you can more adequately support your graphic novel habit…more so than that gig mowing your folks lawn...

Cool stuff, TAL! Is there no option to continue working there or have you had enough?

Yeah, I hope I get to sneak out of there without anyone noticing at the end of June. I know that won't work, so I guess I hope for nothing big.

Many thanks! Me and a friend started usingDCBS last year, so now I'm getting comic books every month. Also, I will most likely do the lawn thing this summer too.

The job was just until the end of last year when I started. The did some restructuring at the new year, so my job doesn't exist anymore, but I got to stay for 6 months more to make the changes a bit easier.
