It's a painter's union protesting a hotel because the hotel hired a different union to work for cheaper pay. So they put a rat right outside of the hotel and pass out flyers protesting the one union and hotel.

I would think a rat that big would be a safety hazzard as well as requiring a permit for taking up that much of the street.

It doesn't go out to the street but it's far enough that people walking on the sidewalk have to almost go out to the street to walk around it.

Regardless, with these types of protests, the cops won't bother them because it could cause a bigger disturbance than just the rat being there and them passing out flyers.

It was word passed along through the grapevine. You know how it is. It's probably an inaccurate story but for sure, a painter's union is protesting the hotel and they set a big rat up outside of the hotel.

I've seen that rat. They put one up when an H&M opened downtown. I think because of sweat shop labor or something?

It's the basic, "hey, this business is run by rats, don't go here" deal.
