I think Mel was definitely in her 'youngster' look stage before the braces came off. I know how it is, I had braces forever so it gives you that look. However, Mel has always been a gorgeous girl inside and out and well now that the braces are gone and not covering her beautiful teeth the beauty shins out now even more :) and as she gets older she's just going to be more and more of a knock out.

seriously, watch out guys. she's sure to be a heartbreaker if she isn't already :D

HA! no one's ever put "melanie" and "heartbreaker" in the same sentence before.

i remember when i was in 11th grade, my human anatomy teacher was looking at me and all of a sudden, he said "one day you're going to be beautiful.... i don't mean you're not a pretty girl now, but you're one of those girls that has been one of the guys her whole life and has never even tried makeup. in a couple years, you're going to open up and have a lot more confidence, too."


....he really hit the nail on the head. i still don't wear makeup... i don't even own any, actually, but about a year ago i started straightening my hair, i got my braces off in april, and i got contacts last summer...i don't know if i have more confidence. i think i'm just what i should probably call... "an outgoing nerd"

same thing was said to me when I was in high school. I do the make-up thing now but I was definitely one of the guys, and still am now I suppose. But yeah I am a lot more confident than I used to be.

yeah same here. I have maybe two girl friends here and I rarely see them and I seriously doubt we will keep in touch after I move, we aren't close at all. Otherwise I have two great close girl friends in San Diego. That's it.
