it is weird i have to hand in a photo but a lot of places do it now - mostly in trendy skate/alternative clothing shops like cult over here when i guess they do use it to assess your coolness.
i was thinking hard about why they would need a picture, and i honestly think it may just be to aid memory retention. a traineeship at working title films will receive maybe thousands of applications, so how are they going to be able to remember one dude with an average looking CV to another dude with an average looking CV? instead, they can say "that chick with the funky hair, she had great credentials" or "that chick who took that really dark picture but looked approachable nonetheless, let's hire her!" [i wish!].
at least, that's what i reckon.
but you can tell a lot from a picture.. so maybe they are trying to get an idea of my personality without meeting me.
and also, maybe they're trying to do some sort of equal opportunities survey without explicitly asking "are you not a white media type?".
who knows!
