I thought this was the Matt G weekend...hence you with him. Gah i'm SO out of the loop! Also thought M+L were doing the Matt G one. Woss this weekend....pavement?? I know they there but obviously wasn't paying attention but can vaguely remember a conversation about pavement. Or perhaps i'm just already a doddery old fucker who repeats everything. i went to chile for the first time in over 18 yrs. and i didnt really go tourist-ing, i mostly just got to see my family. they were amazing. i have never been so proud of my cousins and the wonderful adults they have become. i also got to see where the neighborhood/house i grew up in, which was suddenly quite tiny.

this is one of those typical valparaiso shots, from downtown looking uphill.

these are my dad's sister's kids. first time i meet that little girl, and i pretty much love her to pieces.

these are my dad's brother's girls, and my cousin's baby (the one in the front/middle above).


my short trip made for one of the most beautiful, happiest days of my life.


my only sadness: that i was never able to go back to see my grandfather while he was still alive. i was so very sad to go to chile and realize that i wouldnt be able to hug him, and have him see me as an adult. that would have been the ultimate icing on my cake. alas, the family he built is just about the most wonderful family you could ask for. for that, im grateful.

Speaking of family, I spent a lot of time with mine too (although not in a exotic location, just socal, haha). My cousin just graduated from USC:
