Default son of the city

dante ross' book is very good, lots of beastie stuff obviously but it's behind the curtain talk more than just more superficial regurgitation talk. just another perspective but it further cements their legacy, especially in the context of when hip hop took off. talks about the apollo theatre, the show with kurtis blow, john barry, the scared shitless movie with ivan reitman, leaving def jam, etc..

he narrates himself in the audio book.

good stuff.

thank you adam adam & mike

I used to follow him on instagram and he's a little too, my clothes, my sneakers, I was there when, I was responsible for.

your legacy is set my man. it's like he's scared of being forgotten

he actually talked about exactly that in the context of his "complicated" history with them, and his mouth getting in the way.

if you want to skip over the rest of his schlock the entire chapter Rhymin and Stealin is about the beastie boys, and he's nothing but gracious and praising when talking about them and their music.

like i said it's just a different perspective and it gets into the weeds a bit more than their own book.

thank you adam adam & mike

I listened to a podcast where he was promoting the book. He said Adrock was the coolest in the group. He talked about hanging out at his house with Adrock's mom Doris and how cool she was too.

I knew of Dante Ross from his shoutout on the 3rd Bass Gas Face song. I didn't know how far back he went in hip hop.
