I just felt this needed to be said: Too often do I download a fresh remix by one of y'all just to find that the vocals are taking the backseat to the beat. Now, I understand that the point of remixing is to stress the new production, but we must remember that the lyrics for these tracks are the main focus. Not only does it kinda of do the original track injustice, but it makes the whole remix just sound kinda funny. It's kind of odd when the beat's in the forefront and there's this talking going on in the background. Moral of the story, if you've got a beat that's so important that the lyrics aren't important, then just drop the vocals; otherwise it defeats the purpose of a remix. Now, I'm not naming names or claiming that everybody does this, but it's definitely the case the majority of the time. I say this because I really dig a lot of the stuff posted here and hate to hear low-mixed vocals ruin the ultimate experience. In closing though, keep up the good work y'all.

yeah right on.
A good way to work this problem out is when finalisig the mix, listen to it with headphones and try to adjust the volumes that way.

I know I've been accused of shooing off the vocals in my mixes, but you have to know that we're all equalizing our mixes the way that we think they sound the best. I have to say, whenever I hear somebody's remix that put the vocals as the main attraction, I can't help but think that they didn't appreciate their music enough and are using the acapella as a crutch. Remixes can be whatever the artist makes them, but my favorites are the ones where the artists are confident that it's their music that's going to sell, not their samples. (Also, I think your intergalactic remix is one of the best on the board. Just thought I'd throw that in.)

quick question....a mash-up consists of the acapella, and a looped sample of another persons song.... but lets say that we sample that, loop it...but add a bunch of other shit to? example, Body Movin (Uru-Nitro remix)

I dunno, if you've got samples from allover the place maybe it'll be a multi-mashup then. It's still a remix, mate.
Only difference being between people who sample bit of other songs and people who compose original compositions is that in the real world you would have to go around getting every sample cleared otherwise it's theft, but hey... in here it for fun, so it's cool  . I think the mash-ups are cool. I just personally prefer making my own original music, makes it that little bit more authentic and personal. :)
