Audioslave: Austin, 4.17.05

I fucking love this band. Say what you will, they rock.

there was a moment in this show when my hair stood on end. They paused, Brad Wilk counted off 8 cracks on his sticks and they busted out SPOONMAN.

Another song off Soundgarden's Superunknown came later, although I can't recall the name.

They played most of the first Audioslave record with a few songs off the new one (May 24th) which were equally awesome.

Now, while this may be sacred ground- they rocked some RATM. An instrumental version of Bulls on Parade and Sleep Now in the Fire (with Cornell on vocals).

They encored with Cornell solo on acoustic: "Black Hole Sun" and Audioslave's "I am the Highway"

The fucking roof exploded with the hardest version of Rage's "Killing in the name" and Slave's own "Cochise" ended the night.

Cochise - instrumentals looks like "The Ghost of Tom Joad" . Very good tough. But Cornell whinning on the vocals.... ohhhh dammit (n)

And frankly, I was a hug Rage fan but after three albums, their shit was wearing thin. Zack left because the rest of the band wanted to do something *gasp* a little less political. And, guess what, Rocha aint done a goddamn thing since. Cuz March of Death blew dick as did that shit song on the F9/11 soundtrack.

so, IN MY OPINION, Audioslave is the best part of RATM paired with Cornell. And it's less that def poetry jam/ rock that RATM was and it just plain rocks.
