that architecture project looks amazing, driz.
I like your glasswork flame spikey deal drizl. That looks sweet - I don't know anyone who works with glass like that. I'd totally buy something sweet if you made it. I tried buying a glass thing in Ann Arbor (michigan) but every single glass sculpture I could find was a bong in some sense.
Audio you are the man.
Everything on the last page is superb. Crystals stuff and the architectural project. Amazing stuff.

Driz: I was actually thinking this morning I might do color instead.

Those drawings were occasionally in the midst of journal entries, or had poetry (I don't really fancy myself a poet - but I dabble) around them, or sometimes were accompanied with what SobaV called "post-modern philosophical mumblings." I didn't think people here would be interested, and lots of that stuff was personal and wouldn't probably make sense to someone here.

i look forward to seeing it....i think it would be beautiful if you treated it as something more than just a portrait....like if you incorporated the original sketch...dont get rid of it! its cool. also, if you took it one direction, then ran in another...take it as it goes, as it comes, freestyle. start with the sketch and then build it, layers, collages...craziness. have fun!:) just some ideas...

Less awful as in "wow that is so powerful and ugly to look at" more awful as in "more of Norcen's shit *scrolls down*"
Something that is painful and ugly an still be considered good. A blank MS paint page with a red line down the side is not 'ugly or painful in a good way'.

i was working at the CCA today (centre for contemporary arts, glasgow) at a documentary filmmaker's thang but also on was an exhibition by the artist marcel dzama - he did the artwork for beck's guerro. and he has done some work with spike jonze. i liked his stuff. i liked it a lot. his ink and watercolour drawings sorta remind me of something sarky might do? maybe?

yes, well, that cantilever is obviously much larger and the angle is more obtuse. on the drawing, it just doesn't seem like it could work unless the legs of that U-shaped thing extended really far into the ground or something.
I DON'T KNOW I'M NOT A REAL SCIENTIST
Look at this photo. Can you tell what it is?
http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n58/AlienAiden/IMG_0017.jpg
I was driving around for work in the fall and saw it on the side of a building in an alley. It is a Jimi Hendrix mural made out of leaves. The Virginia Commonwealth University student looked out the window and told me it was a disposable art project for his class. I still think this is incredible and I am glad that I had a camera. Fall foliage never looked so good(y)

I actually hadn't seen that bridge before. it's cool though. Bit bigger than i intended mine to be.
Dorothy - the bank of the river is round in ariel view so the deck sits on a concrete parapet for about 2-3m before it reaches the bank edge. It's also cantilevered at both ends too. The arch is on a pin support meaning it's free to rotate (but won't in, say, the wind because of its own weight) so there is no resultant moment dislodging it from the river bank. Under it's own weight, it takes the sag of the bridge deck (which was small anyway) and keeps the cables tense. Basically no matter what the load, the force tending to dislodge the arch at its base is always zero. It'll rotate around the pin, but never by much, and will never fall over because of the angle it sits at with no load on the bridge. The span is only 30m so the deck itself would be fine without the arch, but it looks nice and stuff.
So there.

anyway, BABY DAWN FROM TRAINSPOTTING IS THERE! here is baby dawn. you know, the scene were ewan is going crazy and she's walking along the ceiling. she will actually move if you nudge it. but that's generally frowned upon in art galleries :( i met the man who made it, too. he's just a normal glaswegian bloke, not some posh art school fanny. he's cool. she's falling apart though.

Get spray adhesive from bunnings or something. That's what it's called.

Well, I think that piece would be great if you did scan it, but then left in some of the textures and just made a few vector lines. Basically I'm saying don't fill in the parts that weren't filled in (if you didn't already). The closure that the viewer makes on it is more valuable than if it were just described for you.

hey, how do you make those stencil things? they look so rad.
here's my newest poster. I hated it at first, but now I kind of like it. we'll see how it scans up. my hand is tired from cutting.

oooooh i see how it is both 1900s and feb 5 - i see what you did there! clever! pretty.
question: when you make a poster, is it only one? i mean, posters normally go up in dozens or hundreds or whatever, and it would be a hell of a job to do numerous copies of what coolness you've just shown. it is just one that it displayed in the club or what? WHAT GIVES DOROFY!
what band was coming to glasgow again that you wanted me to see with my own two eyes so i can touch their bodies? we have a band here that i keep on seeing advertised everywhere called the 1990s and every time i think "oooh that might be sark... ohwaitaminute, it isn't" :(
now i see it i am thinking maybe this 1900s thing of yours is a club/night rather than a band.
my head hurts. i've drank one bottle of white wine.

ah! ha ha, that's not supposed to be a 5! I'm not so clever afterall :(
actually, they have a "residency" coming up at that club where they play every monday with different bands in february. and they scan my poster and take it to the printer to make multiples. when they get famous I will sell the originals for thousands!!!!!!
I need to learn how to make actual prints, they look nicer in the end. ah well.

oh, and I'd rather not mention that band that went to europe in public, as I was semi-dating the bass player, but we've been on the outs since I saw him at a bar in between tour dates and he told me that someone called him a "womanizer", and then he said, "I'm not though, am I? I like you, I still want to take you on dates." and then I was like
I'm pretty sure he's an alcoholic anyway. so, I can't be bothered.

ah, i thought all the bands were on feb 5th at first glance - now that would have been reason to boast "yah i intended that all along" to anyone who saw it! shit damn. you should just remove all the bands that aren't playing on february 5th. we sees an opportunity!
or you could just be like "yah the revolution is starting on feb 5th - see what i did there? i'm INSERTING IT INTO YO CONSCIOUSNESS!"
edit: oh i can't touch someone who's touched sarky! :( maybe next time! oh my flatmate is doing an american tour in a couple of months time. you should touch him! he's gay though so you probably wouldn't like touching his ass. but i can give him a present to give yoooouuu!

nice! maybe I should take credit for that one. or maybe MY SUBCONSCIOUS WAS PLANNING IT THE WHOLE TIME?!
ya ya, I love the gays! and I love presents!

la la la, I decided I hated that poster, so I changed it. The round orange balls, that font, and the beige-cum-pink were making me puke. somehow it looked 90's to me. and there were too many different fonts for my taste. meh.
anyhow, new and improved:

fuck, I still don't like it. OH WELL. :( there's just too much text to deal with, there's nothing I can do about that. stupid bands and their stupid long names. hmph.

He goes by nob (http://www.myspace.com/nobsuz) -- from JAPAN, and makes Clash and Who dolls. I wasn't expecting it at all, so this made me very happy.

I've been churning out a ton of sketches recently though so if i manage to get some time and throw out some stickers id trade for anything man.
