i was watching enter the dragon last night on channel 5 and i know the beastie boys are big fans of bruce lee and one of the fighters in the film was called mr.roper.any connection with "i'm so rope they call me mr.roper,when trouble arrives you know i'm the cool coper."?

You've got me thinking, but I still believe it is a reference to Mr. Roper off of Threes Company. Look at some of their previous work, like Abe Vigoda, Phyllis Diller, Chuck Willory, Chachi, Mr. Ed, and Green Acres. My $.02. :D
