okay, so i'm still fucked off about the no saving at the end thing, but i was wondering about something.

you know that place at the main goron mines that you climb up a wee bit of netting to, go through the cave a wee bit and you get to what looks like a stone - with a claw/footprint and three wavy signs above it. there's also one near the hot spring on the left - same stoney thing and you can see a switch through the gap inside the room.

HOW THE FUCK do you get past it? nothing will work. i have all the weapons and nothing will work!

Depends...if you'd like the game to be like all other Rayman's...(a platformer) you'd probably be disappointed. It's purely a mini-game...er..game. I definately enjoyed it though. It really is a great showcase of what the Wii Remote can do.

The saturn version was basically a pseudo 3d "platform" (not really platform as you were flying most of the time) game made by Sonic Team. You would be able to go left or right and you'd be moving along certain paths. The flying was so cool...

There wasn't much puzzle solving involved but I immagine they would add something like that in a new version.

I can so immagine using the wiimote and nunchuck to spread my wings... errr... arms... to control the flight!

I'd suggest that you highly skilled people rent Rayman rather than buying it. You'll probably finish it in one sitting and be bored with it and be out a bunch of money.

For me, it's a really good game to let wii curious friends play at my house. It has mini games that allow people to see what the wii remote can do. And you're doing only one thing at a time, so a friend (or mom) who has never touched the wii before can complete a game and let someone else play. Plus people love shooting bunnies with plungers!

Yeah...it's definately unlike any other Rayman title. In fact, it seems as though the Rayman character was forced into the game a bit, as the bunnies seem to be the real stars. Either way, I still highly recommend it...

I thought the controls were icky. I know I have trouble with playing third person shooters with a pad but I thought the whole "back up against a wall and get an animation of what you'd do if you would push/release the button now" thing little immersive. I had a similar problem with R6:Vegas.

The game looks amazing though, especially when you start to run.

If you only use your Wii on the wireless WEP is fine but if you also use your laptop on it I'd seriously consider switching to WPA-TKIP. WEP is leaky.

i tried for a while, but i was drunk, so i got frustrated and gave in, i'm terrible at those kinds of puzzles. those and mosaic puzzles, where there's an image, but you have to rearrange squares to form it

edit: i'm even drunker now, but i'm also even farther into the game, and i've been doing ok

i really hope that this game is so long that i can beat it, and then start it over again and still be surprised by it

My Wii is going in for repair soon :(

It does this strange freezing thing...I'll be going between channels in the Wii Menu, and it'll take minutes and minutes to get to the next channel while I'm treated to a blank screen. I'll even have to turn it off from time to time. Pfff.

As of right now there's no announcement of any online FPS for Wii though. The cat is pretty much out of the bag as far as why no games were online at launch, and if you're late to the party we can catch you up by simply saying "Nintendo wasn't ready" and leave it at that, but we also know that online is on the way, and from the sounds of it the Wii will be getting some support. Obviously our mouths are sealed right now, but let's just say we're hearing rumblings of Wii-specific versions of at least one of the main FPS franchises out there. Oh, and when we say "Wii-specific" we don't mean tacked on controls that claim to make it a new experience. We're talking an immersive, competitive experience built from the ground up for Wii. Here's hoping everything works out as planned, as I look forward to be fragging each and every one of you ASAP.

Yeah, I gather the FPS franchise is medal of honour, and the wii specific version comes with dumbed down graphics as well as the controls.

I honestly can say that I didn't buy a wii for FPS and action games, so I'm not really concerned about it. But I don't think all the best shooters will be on wii.

I dont know. Any argument regarding why the Wii is inferior seems just tired to me. If graphics were my main interest, I would spend a few thousand on a PC which looks better than any of the consoles currently on the market.

The Wii is doing original shit. Even Red Steel, which for all practical purposes would be a pretty subpar shooter on any other system is pretty fun once you get used to controls. I dont know, I enjoy it.

I disagree. While I don't think the Wii will be the dominating console this generation....it'll certainly do leaps and bounds better than the GameCube did in terms of overall sales and public opinion. After E3, which many people in the industry aptly dubbed "Wii 3", Third parties saw the response the Wii was given and scrambled to jump on the bandwagon. I don't think anyone, save for Nintendo, counted on it doing this well.

If you ask me, Microsoft squandered their year head start. In a year that should have been used to gain a lead, major titles were pushed back and sales were sluggish. And in Japan...things don't look any better for this Xbox iteration than they did for the last one...

Wii has yet to impress me, and The Big Three - Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, and Super Smash Bros Brawl - aren't going to sway my opinion. Reggie Fils-Aime, President and Chief Operating Officer of the North American division of Nintendo, has been saying nothing but praise for the above mentioned games, which is all swell, but when you have nothing else to work with, it makes your console seem lackluster.

There are some, however, that I know are being developed for Wii, that look interesting -- No More Heroes, (from the makers of Killer 7) Disaster: Day of Crisis, (developed by Monolith Soft, published by Nintendo) Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers, Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn, (this one especially) Project H.A.M.M.E.R., (new Nintendo franchise) Sonic and the Secret Rings, Super Paper Mario, Sword of Legendia, (sequel to Tales of Legendia, made by Namco)

Then there are some untitled RPGs that I have my eye on -- Konami RPG, Monolith Soft RPG, Square-Enix Mana project, Yasumi Matsuno (former director at Square-Enix) project, and possibly my most-anticipated Wii game, Camelot RPG. (god, I hope it's a Shining Force VI)

Notable mentions also go out to a Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear creator) project, and a Keiji Inafune (Mega Man creator) project.

So, even at this stage, there is much to look forward to. Heck, even PlayStation 3 is suffering with a drought of games, and their outlook isn't looking too bright either. Basically, for them, it's just Metal Gear Solid 4 and the Final Fantasy XIII games as killer apps.

As for Xbox 360, I tout them as the current winner. Sure, their Japan sales are atrocious, but they're still above the rest. There are many interesting games I want to play on that console. I bought the original Xbox and was thoroughly disappointed, and I'm still coming back for more. Shows my persistance.

I have no idea. I only played Shining Force I and II. Shining Force I, I almost beat, and Shining Force II I played a bit of, and it felt a lot more polished. Shining Force III was for the Sega Saturn, and was split up in three Scenarios. Unfortunately, only Scenario 1 was released in the United States and Europe.

It would be ideal if Camelot Software Planning could develop a classic strategy RPG, preferably Shining Force IV, for the Wii, since all you'd have to do is point the remote to the locations that you want your party members to move to on the grid. Yes, it's not a huge deal to use the joypad controller, but I think people would be more at ease while playing strategy RPGs, especially the difficult ones.

I'm a little bugged at the current state the Shining Force series is in. Sega has taken the initiative to turn the recent Shining Force games into action RPGs. I heard Shining Force NEO was nothing special; Shining Force EXA looks to be more promising, but again, still an action RPG. I suppose Sega has no more faith in the strategy RPG genre.

If Camelot Software Planning were to have plans for a proper Shining Force, I'm not sure if they could get Sega's permission, since they own the Shining Force license. It all would depend on what I touched on above - are strategy RPGs profitable in this day and age?

The people I know who are excited about wii are not the usual gamers. It's popular with a broad base of people. And it's fairly cheap. I'm sure that to make a shitload of money Nintendo has to sell games to the hardcore gamers, but I know a lot of 35 year old dads with five year old girls and 60 year old moms who are fighting over who gets to play with the wii when they get together for family events.

It has indeed attracted many casual gamers, and first-time gamers. I'm of the opinion that Nintendo should base the Wii on the Nintendo DS' strategy - releasing unusual and/or obscure games, however clever enough to appeal to many. One clear difference is that the Nintendo DS is portable and convenient. Wii will be a little more harder to convince, that gamers should play these weird, out-of-norm games on a console, that is typically stationary, placed in a primary set location.

well, she is up by the steam thingies, and she dropped down into that area, but there's two huge rocks blocking a gate and you can see through a little and there's a whole huge area back there (and you can't jump over it) and to the side of it is a tunnel that is blocked with some sort of stone that has weird symbols on it.

I finished up the desert dungeon. That was frustrating, but the item you get inside is cool, and fun to use. I have to say, so far, the boss in that dungeon is the best.

I think you just had to look at the gamecube to realise what you were getting yourself into with the wii. Having said that, i'm not dissapointed, but there really needs to be alot of games released pretty soon.

I think maybe I should have clarified with "more games that I want to play." Cars and Spongebob Squarepants are not big on my list, so I am more interested in the big titles from nintendo and others. Namely mario, smash bros, sonic and metroid. I would have thought that a mario kart game would have been launched soon after the console itself.

there needs to be a larger selection.

Konami has recently announced a new Wii game titled Dewy's Adventure. From the same makers as Elebits, however this time, it has a serious plot, and you're able to reconfigure your character's body while travelling in levels, since you're a droplet of water. I wouldn't expect to see the better games releasing until late in the year, or the beginning of next year. In the mean time, play catch up with some GameCube games.

So I finally got my Wii back. It felt like two months, when it was actually less than two weeks. They just gave me a brand new console. Only catch is my Mii's are no longer "mine." I had to re-do all of them...plus all my Pro Status' from Wii Sports are gone, along with the Mii's.

Oh well, I'm just happy to have the thing back.

Zount, we gots to swap Wii Numbers...
