Anyone else get the Everybody Votes Channel? Very cool little bonus, if you ask me.

Oh yeah, and if this (http://wii.ign.com/articles/764/764007p1.html) proves to be true, very sweet.

so i just read about that new channel on kotaku, and i'm struggling to understand its purpose. i mean, what is the data going to be used for? have nintendo got a secret database of facts like if i would prefer to live in a house at the beach or on a mountain, or if i prefer chocolates or flowers? are they selling it to the government? are they going to chop my hands off? these are things i think about!

it would be cool if they used this to share this data with people on our friends list/online games etc etc. its pretty lame just to answer all these questions and not be able to share the massively insightful answers with, like.. anyone else.

In the future Nintendo may put up questions about what gamers want, and in turn take those suggestions into account with future products. But for right now I think it's just for fun.

OPINIONTRON 800 DOES NOT EAT NOR SLEEP, HOWEVER, THE LEAST WASTEFUL OPTION ON THE NINTENDO ONLINE POLL IS EATING. THE ACCUMULATED LABOUR POWER LOST FOR EACH HUMAN BEING SHUTTING DOWN ON AN AVERAGE OF EIGHT HOURS EVERY DAY FAR OUTWEIGHS THE ACCUMULATED LABOUR POWER LOST TO THE PRODUCTION AND CONSUMPTION OF EDIBLE ENERGY BY AT LEAST 7.6%.

UNFORTUNATELY, THE ANTIQUATED HUMAN BODY WILL EXPIRE FASTER FROM LACK OF SLEEP THAN FROM STARVATION.

OPINIONTRON EXHORTS THE AMELIORATION OF HUMAN ENERGY SOURCES TO COLD FUSION. OPINIONTRON IS CORRECT. OPINIONTRON IS UNABLE TO LOCATE ANY REPUTABLE EXTERNAL CITATIONS ON THE SUBJECT.

Why bother with a pre-order? They're shipping millions of these things to america. There wont be lines when its released...you'll be able to just walk in and buy one the first day. Consoles dont sell 6 million units in one day. The Gamecube has sold like 26 million since its release 5 years ago.

Bottom line, they will NOT be hard to find, and in some ways I think this may bite them in the ass. PS2 and Xbox360 were high in demand upon release due to limited initial availability and just sort of created further buzz.

Now there's a vicious rumor that fucking Nintendo hasn't/won't release the online devkits to 3rd parties until 2008.

I read an article recently on IGN that said 3rd Parties were late getting online dev. kits, but eventually got them....

I doubt this rumor has any truth to it. If true, it would represent an uncharacteristically bad move, and Nintendo knows they can't afford to make those at this early stage in the Wii's life.

It's basically a collection of technical demos designed to show just what the Wii Remote can do. Wii Remotes cost $40 by themselves. Wii Play is $50. Your getting a $10 game. It's a no brainer, really.

If you have several Wii Remotes already, it's nothing to run out and pay $50 for. But if you need an extra, I recommend it.

So after playing twenty minutes of Sonic and the Secret Rings, I think I am more than experienced enough to say that this game is pretty good. It's not as good as Sonic Rush on the DS, or the old sonic games that I know and love, but better than playing the same wii sports again and again.

The first thing I realised once I put the disc in, was that this game has awful music. Not the great sonic funk masterpieces of what seems like a fogotten era, but trashy rock music. The second think I realised, was that Leela from Futurama is doing the voice of the Geenie. I think.

I liked the sound the rings make when you pick them up. I have always liked that sound. It's like how some people like the sound of laughing children, or someone getting hit in the balls. If I ever have children, I'm going to teach them to make the sonic-picking-up-rings sound instead of laughing or crying. Or speaking. If there was a game where you just collected rings instead of doing anything else, I would buy it. I wish I could collect rings in real life.

This is the first game released in a long while that doesn't suck. Unless you like playing veritable abortions such as Happy Feet or Spongebob Squarepants. Maybe you do like playing those game. Maybe I am the only one on the planet that doesn't, in fact this is more than likely. **If you are one of the few survivors of the wii apocalypse, please buy this game so we can begin to retake our homeland.**

Running away from packs of triceratopses is awesome, and riding logs and sand waves is cool too, but having to speed back up after you jump is as infuriating as trying to find VC downlaod points for sale. The mini-games seem poor, but mini-games are meant to be bad, right? Also, I don't like having to select a new mission every single time I advance a leve, and the fact that the levelSSSS are more like challenges within one levelLLLLL (no s) is stupid.

Here's hoping that the first person running will be ditched for the next game. Side scrolling for ever.

EIGHT STARS

I still like this game. Better than the xbox360 game.

Koei is developing an original Wii RPG titled Opoona. A few of the fellas that helped on the Dragon Quest series is working on this. All controls are done using the nunchuck, too. Read about it more here. (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3158009)

And now, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this pains me more typing it: when online gaming starts, Wii Friend Codes will be game specific, like the Nintendo DS. In greater detail here. (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3158027) Really now, Nintendo... goodness.

The Wii will be the first real time I'll play games online and while I'm new to it the fact that I'll have to get friend codes for every different game is a little discouraging to say the least.

Does anyone know why we can't just use the console code instead of individual game codes? Is it so people can play on a specific server for each game or something?

Miho
03-14-2007, 07:09 PM
I think it has to do with child safety, in regards to predators out there. Although having individual game friend codes may be something else entirely.

I'm getting high-speed internet in my area in about one more month and I bought a wireless router for my computer that will serve as a hotspot.

Since I'll be going wireless is there anything else I need to go online with the Wii since I'll have Wi-Fi?

That should do it. Just make sure your router is compatible with the DS and Wii, and your settings (Firewalls, Security Settings, etc.) allow them to connect. The DS is a bit more finnicky in terms of router compatibility than the Wii.

I bought the official Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Adapter, only to have it (for some reason) not work. I took it back and forked out $50-$60 for a Belkin, and it's passable. It gives my Wii some trouble, and the DS occasionally, but I can't be bothered taking it back.

That would be cool if I hadn't already finished it like 15 times.

It'll be cool for people like me who didn't beat it 15 times though....or even once for that matter. And for $30, it's hard to resist.

Plus, the way I see it, Capcom owes this to Nintendo fans big time. They promised RE4 would remain a GCN exclusive (Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami even went so far as to say he'd cut his own head off if it was ported to any other system) then it hopped over to the PS2 with new stuff. A Wii version with the PS2 goodies, polished graphics, and widescreen support would be a good note to end this situation on.

Miho
04-10-2007, 05:35 PM
Spencer,

Eh, on one hand, Capcom shouldn't have made the commitment of announcing exclusivity of the Resident Evil series on a, and sorry to say, less-than-stellar console like the GameCube. Because compared to the PlayStation 2 installed userbase at the time, GameCube's installed userbase paled in comparison. It's not that the console in and of itself sucked, but the games weren't there for it to become a phenomenon like the PlayStation 2 became, or lets even say the DS, as it is enjoying now.

Which brings me to my next point, exclusive games -- this current generation, I don't see them becoming popular this time around. There will be exceptions on the major games like Final Fantasy XIII and Dragon Quest IX, and Metal Gear Solid 4 is up in the air right now, because I won't hold my breath on it staying exclusive on PlayStation 3, but I see a port for the Xbox 360 someday in the future.

And sorry, I derailed the topic beyond the Wii. I'm not crazy about a Wii version of Resident Evil 4, because doing these ports is not going to cut it for Nintendo. I already own the GameCube version, anyway. Sure, it's a nice gesture by Capcom, but they NEED to concentrate on original games that make innovative usage of the motion sensing controller.

Wait.... you mean you've never played it or just never beat it? Either way you're doing yourself an injustice. I think I bought it twice when I still had my Gamecube (I use to have a problem keeping games after I beat them) but when I get it for the Wii I'm keeping it in my collection I've started (y)

If they fuck up the new Super Smash Bros with gay controls I will cry

It's heavily rumored (and even hinted at by the developers) that Brawl will utilize either the GCN or Classic Controller. Personally, I think there will be two control schemes....a Wii Remote layout, and for traditionalists, the GCN or Classic controller.

Rayman is amazing, by the way. Haters.

Masahiro Sakurai, creator of the Super Smash Bros. series, has said that Super Smash Bros. Brawl may have full compatibility with the GameCube controller, and in a recent interview with IGN, he said that the game may not have Wii remote controls because creating too much motion-sensory functionality can get in the way of the game.

SSBB IGN article. (http://wii.ign.com/articles/707/707504p1.html)

Not really a big deal to me, but if there's not proper global wifi online gaming, fuck Nintendo.

When the WFC launched in November '05, Nintendo had not one, but two killer apps (Mario Kart DS and Animal Crossing: Wild World) to show just what it was capable of. Nintendo needs another killer app to legitimize the Wii as an online console.

Alot of pressure is riding on SSB:B, and I think Nintendo knows that.

As for as everyone knows it going to have two schemes and if it does have one for the Wii-Remote it probably won't have motion sensing.

I'm not sure why everyone is hating on it so much, it's a solid game (y)

When Dr. Julio Bonis awoke one Sunday morning with a sore shoulder, he could not figure out what he had done. It felt like a sports injury, but he had been a bit of a couch potato lately.

I was at the local thrift store last summer, and I spotted a Wavebird, sans the reciever and battery cover, but it was just 99 cents, so I picked it up anyway. I bought a few other things with it, and looking at my receipt later, they forgot to ring it up. I went to one Wal-Mart and bought a Wavebird, kept the receiver, and returned it. I then went to another Wal-Mart, bought another Wavebird, kept the battery cover, and returned it.

I had quite the time setting up my Wi-Fi also. The DS is a bit finnicky when it comes to compatibility, thankfully the Wii works with more networks. My only advice is to call Nintendo, and they'll sort you out. There's even a number to call for strictly WFC issues they can give you.

Umbrella Chronicles is really solid and Resident Evil 4 is hands down one of the best games you'll ever play.

The Wii version has a bucket load of extra content not on the Gamecube one and the motion controls that let you aim with a reticle really aid in interactivity in a great way. Aiming is way more fun than in the Gamecube version and makes you feel more immersed in the experience.
