There is a great article on the making of CYH in the photo issue of Wax Poetics. along with the story are a series of unseen Ricky Powell pics form the Pauls boutique and CYH era, with a few showing Mark Nishita and Ad-Rock playing a sax and a trumpet, and a classic of a 20 year old Ad-Rock programming on the sp 1200 (or the roland 909, not sure). definately worth the pick up.

curious how many (in number) are shot by Ricky?? Cuz I just bugged him via email the other day that he should REALLY put out an all Beastie Boys book. The man has the ill shit. From back in the day up thru now. Ever think about how many shots he's taken of them???? Let's all pester him to do it! I think it would really sell seeing as there have been only 2 or so photo books on the B-Boys over the years...too low a number on such a stylish and legendary band...

I'm pretty sure that's a Roland TR707 (I got one once for £30 because there was a small electric glitch on one of the pads - but I like fucked up drum machines - nowadays it's really dying and makes all sorts of wonderful electric farts and twangs)

And for all you Adrock perverts out there - I can't believe no one mentioned that there's a picture of him playing with a big horn! I mean c'mon! That's some obvious crass inuendo. There might as well be a picture of him spanking a monkey or choking a chicken or some shit. :D

thanks. Yeah, see our man the Rickster should definitely put out an ALL BEASTIES book! True alot of his shit is in his "Oh Snap!" book, but this mag proves that he's got stuff lying around in his cabinet prime for publishing. Who here wouldn't buy this potential book?!
