The latest issue of NME has an interview with the boys where they confirm that their new album is going to be all hip-hop, and they are trying to update their style. Here's a quote for ya:

"There's a lot of money in hip-hop right now if you give people what they want, and we want a piece of that" says Adam Horovitz, aka Adrock, as he takes a puff of his cigarette and straightens a crease in his powder-blue track top. "Hip-hop right now is for the children and a lot of our fanbase are in the over-30s right now, we want to connect with the youth."

"We've seen a lot of changes in hip-hop since we started out", offers Adam Yauch aka MCA, his mane of silver hair and beard giving him the air of a wise elderstatesman, "and now the simplicity of it is similar to when it first started, we feel like it's gone full circle and we're ready to get back into the mainstream."
I can't be bothered to write the whole thing out but it's a good interview, they reveal a lot of details about the new album. Confirmed artists they're working with include Timbaland, Dipset, T.I. and Soulja Boy. They refused to respond to rumours that the entire album will be executive produced by Puffy and the Hitmen, which suggests they could be true. Also, they are aiming for a June release so they can build up a single to be the club hit of the summer.

Anyways, get the magazine and check it out. (y)

What's the cover date and who's on the cover? Here they usually have several issues of NME on top of each other so I don't wanna miss it (I don't check it that oft anymore).

Come on, ain't this just their usual hijinks? They's just takin' shit. If, however, they tried some shit like this, I'd be sopin' it up wid a biscuit. It's time to go to the top 'n become pop. Time to try to be popular. Time to get all Madonna on our asses. Their ain't nothing wrong with that. I just don't believe it.

:o:(

I feel so dumb right now!

I can't believe I went to look for a copy of NME!

Has anyone else searched their website and found nothing newer than the Mix Up in the news section?

I can't believe I didn't think more about who had posted this - it's not the 'boys hi-jinks - it's paddy talking his usual 'Nas lost' type of nonsense!

D'oh!

'There's a lot of money in hip hop right now..' !? - I'm so dumb!

Paddy, Ima have my little sister track your sorry ass down and bite yur fuckin' balls off.

But now I secretly wish they'd do something just like that. If they want to try something new either: make a sincere album, write love songs, do a kids album or go pop. Rub that cash-money up in that pum pum, y'all.

Speaking of "pum pum", I'm filming my parents for a documentary on white Jamaicans. I ask my mom to say some Jamaican cuss words and she said, "pum pum". I ask my 84 year-old mom, "What's pum pum?" and her response was, "Pussy!" We laughed our asses off. There are a lot of other Jamaican synonyms for it that I'll post to my YouTube account later. Anyone go to the Chicago big show and remember Mike D suggesting the audience go home and Google "pum pum"?

it's pretty funny to think about though. the b-boys on mainstream radio? I

don't believe it. they are so elusive and hard to get a straight answer from.

We'll just have to wait and see, but know that their shit is of the hook and

we know that we are all gonna love it. it's gonna be interesting to see how

the production goes and the marketing of this project.

i'd still love to hear the beasties do tracks with the likes of timbaland, premier, dre, etc. just to see how it would come out. i would prefer a record of their own material foremost, but if they were to do some one-off appearances and features with any of the above i think it would be dope.

I think they really "connected with the youth" when they did HN. I remember seeing that on TRL back then and kids buggin' out for that one. they need something that hits hard like that again.
