Have not heard anything from Cey either. Hope 'no news is Good news!'
Wishing all goes well for Adam. I've been thinking of him all this weekend, hoping to hear something from someone or somewhere. My prayers are with Yauch and his family.

Hoping to hear some good news soon. Been thinking about it quite a lot. Took some time to myself and stuff, sat by a lake and read. Wife's friends asked if I'm ok. I feel like a complete dork.

I was on vacation when I found out the day after they made the announcement. I just got back. I had a shit ton of peaceful time to just zone out and found myself thinking about it quite a bit too. I put all the bboys albums on my ipod and listened to it while I was in the airports/flying. I wouldn't say "dorky" was the feeling I got but it was kinda weird, I guess. Hard to put it into words.

One of my wife's friends, her partner just got fucked over by Jane's Addiction cancelling their shows. And she was like "I heard about the Beastie Boys though, are you alright?". Like, I'm fine really, just in my own head it's kinda weird at the moment.

i've been spazing this week. i feel like i fuck things up when i do. trying to help people out who aren't asking for it. but dorking out is real for some of us. we're not Adam's friend the way Cey or Adam H or Mike are, but he has made gargantuan differences in our worlds. i wonder what it's like for adam to have all these people he doesn't know feeling such concern for him. makes me think of that NYT article on how fandom is an integral part of who they are. seems to apply in a very different way as well. if you've never wikied "dork", try it. hope the surgery went well.

They'll probably make an announcement after the biopsies reports come back. Treatment depends on what type of cancer he has and how many lymph nodes it spread to. I had cancer in my parotid gland two years ago at the age of 45. They removed 96 lymph nodes from just one side of my neck for testing. It's amazing how many nodes we have in our body. A big factor will also be if the cancer has eaten into the main face nerve that runs through the parotid gland. The main nerve sends the messages to the smaller nerves to make your face muscles work. When they removed my gland they also removed 2" of nerve due to cancer invasion. IF Adam had to have part of his nerve removed with the parotid gland, they will graft in a nerve from either his arm or upper leg area. But it takes 6 - 18 months for the nerve graft to take effect. Until then he will not have any facial muscle movement on that side of his face. Please keep Adam in your thoughts and prayers. He has a LONG road of recovery. God Bless!

thanks a lot. it means a lot to read these words, and hear what you are feeling. thanks for all of the positive thoughts and love.

surgery is in nyc this friday morning.

I am killing myself reading all these posts from when he announced he had cancer and adam read the posts and responded to everyone saying thanks and that the surgery was coming. That was his last post almost 3 years ago.

Why him........? :(
