Yeah, I peeped that the other day. It didn't hit me like his other shit. Maybe I wasn't in the zone.
I do like the new Kanye joint off the RZA's new film soundtrack a lot!
Side note. My friend Eyenine (who was on my debut LP) is on tour opening for for the RZA. Cool shit. Small world.

Dom Keneddy ft. Tyga and Juicy J (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SbfCynQmmI) off his new Young Nation tape.
Been feeling Doms shit, hes got a different sound to him. I dont see him getting as much love as a Kenndrick Lamar, both being from Cali. But I think more of that has to do with the promotion behind them. KL is working with Dre and everything that goes with that. Dom has been grinding and building a buzz. I hear his shit occasionally on Shade45.

its one of the only live threads left on the board and seems to get a fair bit of traffic. i guess its because its essentially why we are all on this board. because of a hip hop group. it goes to reckon that we would still all be interested in new hip hop.

Haha, what?!
His beat selection is better than any other rapper out.
Fact.
I like the method he's using by working "in the studio" with the producer. None of that sending stems via email shit. And working with just one producer on his albums. It gives each record a different vibe and quality. Other rappers should take notice.
It's like the early 80's 90's shit. One producer = great records.
Some Hip-Hop records are all over the place with 10 different producers on one album. It's so uneven and disjointed. You go from a nice No ID joint to a Bangladesh joint. The record basically becomes just a bunch of "singles" instead of being an album.

Thread's called New Hip Hop.
I stayed away from this thread for ages cos in the scheme of things, I know fuck all about new hip hop but now i am here a lot because i get to check out lots of new music.
It cant all be amazing all the time.
If anyone says a track is crap before i listen to it, that's not going to stop me giving it a whirl.
I liked the Hot Shots Part Deux beat, not crazy about all the rapping, think i got put off by the lad with long hair's beard tbh. Ridiculous.
Rick Ross track was ok
Kirko Bangz wasnt brilliant, not very original.
Really like the RZA/Black Keys track now after few listens. Film looks ok too.

i have heard everything on there at some point or another. i really like the roc marc track, the harry fraud track, the wu track and the mf.exquire track.
the others are in the least decent tracks i would have in the rotation from time to time.
pretty sure ive said it before, i def just post a variety of hip hop tracks because i know everyone doesnt have the same taste in hip hop. but i also know people like a lot of rap but dont really actively seek it out. but if its presented to them they might give it a shot and like it. so liking four or five our of the 9 songs i post, i think is a pretty good ratio. you hear shitty songs on the radio all day.
some of the ones i play, if you dont like them fuck it dont listen to them again. if you do go find them and enjoy. either way its whatever just trying to pass on some quality shit.
ill post a lot of singles im feeling but usually not songs from albums i recommend. i recommend the album as a whole for a reason, you know what im saying. where the song recommendations may be hit or miss the album recommendations are usually pretty on point if you are a hip hop head.

Mix of new tracks...
Big Sean - Guap (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJ6y5nIW26E) Song off his new album thats not out yet. I wasn't a big fan of Big Sean when I first heard him earlier this year. But hes grown on me in a stupid kind of way. The steel drums on this track are nice.
Wiz Khalifa ft. Camron - The Bluff (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jb5M3S2AkT8) Track off Wiz's new album, which is actually pretty decent. Vintage Cam.
Trinidad James - All Good Everything (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUc-u8fyNyo) Dude is new (to me at least). Don't know much about him. Dumbed down, yet entertaining.
Kirko Bangz - Drank In My Cup (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TotbU952HNk) Club Banger *disclaimer* This song is not for everyone.
Boldy James - For the Birds (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XryZPYot12M)Grimey Detriot rap. Nothing socially conscious here, just hard bars about slinging dope.
Young Scooter - Columbia (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2xVAqoTPW8) Almost abstract rap imo. Not your typical rhyme scheme, way less rhyming in general than most rap. But still good none the less. Beat is different.

[quote=checkyourprez;1804151]drake - started from the bottom not a drake fan at all, but this song is dope. What is up with this recent trend of shit songs that have unique or amazing beats? It's frustrating as all hell. I wouldn't even call it a beat but more of a cocktail of sentimental minimalism that would seem more in line with a Japanese video game composer. Drake doesn't even rap but just slurs his way through (and still ends up being a big hit).

Speaking of which here is his latest offering just dropping today. Eddie B - Horsepower (Produced by Harry Fraud) (http://www.datpiff.com/Eddie-B-Horsepower-mixtape.472790.html) I never heard of Eddie B before this, but its a whole tape of la musica di Harry Fraud, so ill listen to anyone over it. I guess its someone out of his surf school crew.
and here is Ghostface Killah - 12 Reasons to Die (http://www.npr.org/2013/04/08/176043665/first-listen-ghostface-killah-and-adrian-younge-twelve-reasons-to-die). Ghosts latest album is produced all by Adrian Younge and executive produced by none other than the RZA.

Heh. It's funny because both songs are produced by Harry Fraud. The guy you called "one dimensional music from people pushing buttons." Win some lose some I guess?
Harry Fraud is bringing it. "Strictly For My Jeeps" is killing NYC and Philly radio right now. His new mixtape Adrift is fire too.
eh..i meant talib. as far as actual musicians making hiphop, the beats here are ok (no real chops), more of the same in my opinion. i guess everybody can't be robert fripp on the ones & twos. night night.

this track is pretty fire. a bit of a return to what made me become a big fan of the Clipse. Kanye once again comes through with the beats. Dislike him as a person, and even a rapper sometimes, but if you hate on his beats...you just aren't a hip hop fan.

Ha! I'm glad you had a good time. At the Mad Decent Block Party in Philly this Saturday he was HORRIBLE. He rapped over his songs. Not the instrumentals, not the instrumentals with the chorus and adlibs, over his fucking songs. He had no stage presence, he didn't converse with the crowd, he just ripped through his set and bounced. He was so bad that halfway through his set people threw some empty water bottles at him and booed. After his set the MC said give it up for Riff Raff... Silence. Crickets.
He came up on stage for Diplo/Major Lazer but just hung back and took pictures.
The Block Party was great as always. Sold out crowd, on the Pier. The only bad act was Riff Raff. I expected more with his hype, but he was a dud.

Because BRONSON is there! An actual gifted MC.
Come on, you can like Riff all you want. I understand that. But he's just a personality. A joke.
He's not a rapper or hip-hop. He's just kinda funny. But halfway through his set the joke got old and more than half the crowd felt the same way. It got awkward.
If I saw Action Bronson again and Riff came onstage for a song I'd dig it. A whole set? Naw. Fuck that.
And as for Highline Ballroom. Kreayshawn sold it out and her record sold 4600 units its first week! Biggest flop in years. People want to go to the circus but they don't want to bring it home with them. Don't believe the hype.

rap cancer? you're out your damn mind. some of the bars he drops? his rap style is his own, hes an individual.
he grinds harder than 99% of rappers out there. came from no where, song after song, vid after vid. creating his own buzz with social media and hustle.
you may not like his music, but i don't get how you can respect his grind and label him a "cancer" no less.
