Re: men who don't drive stick
I dont because the car I bought didnt have one and I was too lazy to search endlessly for one with a 5 speed.

Cracks me up that Americans find driving stick to be an achievement.

I only drive an auto because thats what my company gave me. I didn't have a choice. If I was buying a car it would definitely be a manual. A girl who can drive a manual is a turn on. It has also been proven that manual drivers are safer drivers and have fewer crashes. Thats why when I have a daughter/son and they get their first car it will definitely be a manual. |

i have only ever driven manual cars.
i was taught manual - i think if you learn in an automatic you can only have a licence to drive automatic cars, or something. obviously. manual cars are the norm here so driving stick it was. i do a really mean three point turn. is that a turn on? shit, this is a whole other area of potential attraction i have never explored.

Re: men who don't drive stick
i got my auto licence first because i bought my car before i got my licence and couldn't handle having a car yet no licence so i went for the easy option. got my manual licence about 6 months later tho

Re: men who don't drive stick
Im not sure what its like now but when I got my licence there wasn't a separate test for manual or auto.
So i went the auto route got my licence and then bought a manual car |

I have only ever driven an automatic once (in the US surprise surprise) and i didn't know what to do with my left foot. I kept jabbing the invisible clutch.

Re: men who don't drive stick
i don't think it's an achievement. i just prefer driving manual. it's more fun! when i bought my new car last year, i had 2 choices of color b/c there were only 2 manual civics on the lot. luckily they had red.
i will say some of us might think it's an achievement b/c we're taught on auto in school. it's up to our parents to teach us manual, i guess, and most of them only know how to drive auto. i've actually taught several of my friends how to drive stick over the years. |

Re: men who don't drive stick
Both my parents drove autos and my first car was an auto too - I got my license pretty quick, in about 8 or 9 lessons, so it was auto all the way.
I like driving manual, my ex taught me in his car and I was alright at it. |

Re: men who don't drive stick
Driving manual gives a much better feeling of control.
I learned on a three-on-the-tree.

Re: men who don't drive stick
I'm used to stick but I had an Audi S4 company car last month that was an automatic. Although I was driving a nice car, I felt like I was driving a shop-mobilty spaz chariot.
