there's this guy that works at this bar by my house sometimes and I've always had the hots for him, but I know that an acquaintance of mine has hooked up with him and likes him.

the other day, we were at said bar and he was there talking to said girl, and I went up to her and said, "who's this guy?" and she said, "this is so-and-so" and he shakes my hand and says, "I think we've met" and I said, "no, I don't think so" (because we haven't officially). He said, "I used to work here a lot" and I said, "ah yes, you have longer hair now", and he beamed his gorgeous smile and said, "so do you."

then said girl asked him a question and I left to mingle with others.

I think I should be allowed to ask him on a date. right? he is verra cute, and he noticed me. so I think I should be allowed to put my mouth on his mouth. right?

hmm. said girl wouldn't be too happy about it though.

The best way to make sure you don't step on any toes and there are no hurt feelings and all that shit that could possibly happen is to talk to your friend about it first. Don't say "Hey, you know that guy you like that works at the bar? Well, I'm moving in on him, bitch, so go away." Just ask "What's the deal with you two because this is what is going on with me and I wanna know which way to take this."

If she's cool with it then great. Everybody's happy. If she hasn't made any moves and she's pissed that you want to then that's too bad. You didn't go behind anyone's back so no one should feel cheated. You put it all out in the open and you can't be blamed for that. Handle your business.

That would be the best way to handle the situation. But that's just my opinion, of course.


edit-It just occurred to me how ridiculous it is that I have a completely sensible and logical answer for every problem in everyone's life except my own.

btw-Did you go to that street fest thingy they had about a month and a half ago when they blocked off Damen and set up a stage right next to the park? I was there for a little bit but the music was just not me so I left. And there were too many damned people. Too crowded.

I used to live on Rush Street. Literally. Right across from the Barnes and Noble above the Corner Bakery. It kicked ass for about two months and then.....well, then it just became the most annoying place on the planet to be. The bottles breaking and the yelling and hooting and hollering and the walking out of your apartment onto the sidewalk and stepping in a fresh pool of vomit right in front of your door.
