Mix Master Mike - Bangzilla
Mix Master Mike Goes Bangzilla! Turntable terror drops new 2xLP album on October 19th! September 03, 2004 - Invisibl Skratch Piklz founder and Beastie Boys' resident DJ Mix Master Mike will be unleashing a new solo effort entitled Bangzilla on October 19th via Scratch Recordings/Immortal Records. In true bugged-out MMM fashion, the album features a variety of sound effects and turntable wizardry, gunshots, sirens, and scratchmatic effervescences melding together to create a rich, aural pastiche of hip-hop atmoshperia. When asked to elaborate on his latest recorded creation Mike had this to say: "Bangzilla represents hardcore turntable music; and there is no better platform to launch this monstrous project than the Scratch label, who recognizes the DJ as a vital weapon in hip-hop music today."

It's one hell of a tight record. Go get it. Now. Beats like nobody else can do - because nobody can do it like Mix Master can.

Re: Mix Master Mike - Bangzilla
"You know, I have so many ideas going through my head every day," Mike said. "This was like a stop and start process. I would make a beat and put it away, make another beat and put that away. And so I had this map of different beats. I just had to figure out a way to color them in and strategically place them in their right order."
Still, Mike said, when the samples were in place and the album was finally completed, he knew immediately. "I guess when all the parts and all the moves and all the segues fit together as a puzzle, you just know," he said. "You know by listening to it what it needs and what's left to do. I just felt like there was nothing left to do, and I felt like this is it. I finally exorcised it out of myself." I heart the Mixmaster <3<3
