Default 2005 - The Year of Double Albums?

Is it just me or is the big thing now for artists is to release either double albums or multiple releases within the year.

We've got Bright Eyes releasing two albums on the same day.

Ryan Adams will have a double-album this Tuesday (plus two more releases before this year ends)

The Eels has a double-album.

Foo Fighters will release a double album.

There may be more that I'm not thinking of at the moment...

It feels like artists are feeling quite prolific right now. I think right now is a good time to be a fan of these artists.

yeah, it seems cool but double albums usually fall short.

SAOD really has the right idea dropping two albums a few months apart, I think. Just becuase it's almost too much at once.

the Foo's double album might work just cuz the discs are totally different styles.

the only double album I reeeeeally like is NIN's The Fragile

Oh yeah, Moby released a double album this year, too.

Sheesh, is there something in the water?

I can't wait for Tuesday! Have you heard any tracks from the new Ryan Adam's albums DS? I'm gonna have a tough time going to sleep Monday night. It will be like the Christmas Eve I asked for Optimus Prime!

I've heard two songs off his official site (http://www.ryan-adams.com) and they sound great. He's playing with a band called The Cardinals and it sounds vastly different from his "Rock N Roll" and "Love Is Hell" stuff. Kind of going back to his alt-country stuff. I'm pumped for it and I can't wait for the other two albums (which are set for this summer and this fall, if I'm not mistaken)!

First thing this Tuesday me and my bro are headin' to the record store. I'm getting Ryan Adams and The Raveonettes. He's gonna get Nine Inch Nails.

that nas record had some quality moments on it, it's a classic case though (in my mind) that it woulda been better had it just been one cd, with some of the lesser good tracks cut off.

Yah, I should trim down Streets Diciples to one CD. Be a kickass mix CD.

They've done that I think....Streets Disciple Vol 2 or something. I'm really pissed off though, cos I've lost disc 2, which was my favourite one. Really liked the 'Virgo' track.

Oh yes. LCD Soundsystem put out a double-album this year.

Tell me guys... is this more double-albums than ever or this business as usual?
