Embarrassing objects at home
ranging from slightly embarrassing to humiliating
Most of my current journals and poetry Letters some people have written to me - why do I keep them? I don't know. They somehow confirm something in me. Not sure what. Hair bleach - the kind for hair on your face. Self tanning lotion. Individually packaged feminine cleansing cloths - like baby wipes for your nether regions. Journals from my last year of school, mentioning God and praying, talking about how I'm goal oriented and free and have high standards. Including mention of a Euro-trash mimbo who couldn't have cared less about me, and how I considered living with him because he seemed romantic. Similarly cringe-worthy journals from when I was in love, talking about how I feel and how I'm going to feel that way forever, poems about him filling pieces of me like a puzzle fits together. gahh! Photos on a CD, that my old boyfriend and I took together, alone, of just us looking cheesily in love and kissing - only for us to look at - basically so we could admire how much we looked like a couple. The Lucky Shopping Manual - a thick book of fashion and how to go shopping, and the best clothes to wear, what looks good on what body type, what shoes to wear with stuff, what to pack on trips, etc... You've Got Mail on DVD - yes, I like it. A book called Entre Nous: How to Find your Inner French Girl - wasn't bad. A book called What Southern Women Know that Every Woman Should - crap, but I have looked at it more than once. Surplus cardboard boxes, sheets of plastic, packaging material and plastic bags - you never know! A ceramic snowman I won as a raffle prize - I think it's kind of cute, and it's just for the hollidays. HUGE ratty old blue fleece sweatpants. Velvet underwear - crushed velvet. A collage of pictures I've collected of hairstyles I like. Lists of plans I've had, options and such, with pros and cons over the deliberation of decisions I never even finally made. Nerdy British and American literature books about theories of criticism and analyzation. A few mixed CDs with all those songs they play at the end of bad movies, some dumb poppy love songs, and the soundtrack to Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. One of those ab-roller things that's like a rollerskate with handles - maybe I used it 5 times. Situps and crunches are much easier. |

In that collage of hairstyles are a couple of pictures of my friend, printed off email attachments. She might be weirded out if she knew I had pictures of her in a drawer. It's just for her hair though, so maybe she'd understand and not think I was Jennifer Jason Leighing her Bridget Fonda.

Re: Embarrassing objects at home
What's embarrassing about the tushie wipes? It's no worse than TP.
I steal my toilet tissue from the office bathroom. That's pretty embarrassing, I mean how cheap can you be? I also have herbal laxatives. |

Re: Embarrassing objects at home
En Vogue was good, girl! Whatever happened to them?! I have a copy of the song "Whatta Man" that they did with Salt N Pepa. It's on the same mix as "Damn! (I wish I was your lover)" by Sophie B. Hawkins.

both some of my absolute favorite 90s tracks ever.
did you know Sophie's big in the lesbo crowd? a good friend of mine (who wears shirts that say, in rainbow letters, PRIDE) is a huge follower of hers and takes pro photos at her concerts.

I did know that though never why. Same with Ani DiFranco who is straight as far as I know, which isn't very far. I love her work but I don't know about her preferences.

Re: Embarrassing objects at home
I have a tight Baby Phat long sleeve t-shirt with a glitter design. I love it. I've never worn it in public. I think this could be my affectation! I like that shirt. I'm wearing it. I don't care how dumb it looks. Soon as the temp drops she's into rotation.
