My gay friend has a really terrible recipe for cayenne pepper, water, lemon juice, and spices. It gives you the shits, then you lose 10 pounds.

I detox everyday with this Greens+ Daily Detox every freaking day
tastes like ass in a glass but what can you do

I do it just because my job exposes me to toxins everyday so I try and use something a lil heavier than most other people
I also take an antioxidant multivitamin to help counteract the fact that my job causes me cancer on a daily basis

I didnt do a detox last year because it was my lame attempt at a "fuck you" to my health freak exboyfriend who made me do one everyyear when we were together

I just got a box kit from the natural foods store like THIS and followed the food plan for two weeks at a time, its intense the first time but if you are veggie or vegan it isnt that bad
just no crushed grain products (so no pasta or breads basically), no sugary prodcuts at all, actually even certain fruits werent allowed due to sugar content and of course no dairy products at all or anything that has been fermented

but yeah, it makes you shit like 8 times a day but you do feel really good

I think more than anything the not having dairy prodcuts for 2 weeks makes me feel the best but then I remember how much I fucking love cheese so I just start back up on it again once I finish the program everytime

nah nah. the Master Cleanse (aka lemonade diet) is just lemon juice, grade b maple syrup, and cayenne pepper in water. you take laxative tea twice a day (or do salt water rinses - blegh) to make you crap all the time, and the lemonade mixture gives you enough nutrients to survive. yeah, it cleans you out, but i'm not a big fan of detoxes anymore.

just up your fruits and veggies (raw and steamed, of course) and maybe include a green product in your diet for at least a few days. and cut out dairy and refined grains/sugar for a while until you feel up to speed again.

detoxes...eh. i don't know. i used to believe in them, but these days i know that supplement companies will say anything to sell a product. it's more about eating healthier in general. the best way to get nutrients is through your food, hands down.

...and spices?

You sure it's not water, lemon juice, cayenne pepper, and maple syrup?

'cause that's a popular detox method, and the stuff tastes great.

no sir, if you follow the book (trust me on this one) you do laxative tea once in the morning and once at night.

Yeah, I've read the book. Stanley Burroughs' book, right? You do the tea once at night, but that's after something like several days of the fast. And it says you take an extra cup ONLY if you're still constipated.

mmm. i swear it was twice.

i know tons of people that swear by that shit - yes, you lose weight because you're crapping all the time. and the stuff that comes out of you is terrifying. but you lose water weight too, and ugh. it's just not healthy. i don't recommend it anymore.

colonics too. i never really trusted them, and the more i find out, the less i approve of them. fuck, the spa (not a clinic, mind you, just a massage/skin care SPA) next to my old store started doing them and had no clue that you had to replenish the healthy flora immediately afterward. we had to teach them all about that. they really should have been administering suppositories of them, but

...if people are using it as a weight loss thing, like making themselves crap all the time, that sounds bad. It's a detox method, fairly simple: not as pure as a plain water fast, but just kind of actively keeping some vitamins and minerals going during a "fast." The colon cleanse -- yeah, nasty stuff comes out, but you do it two or three times and you're done, really. And you DO feel fantastic after the first couple of days of the fast; and food tastes incredible after you've fasted for 10 days or so. If you just do it as directed, it's a really gentle fast.

yeah. people do that. it's pretty stupid to try to do it just to lose weight...

i can understand colonics and cleansing for people that don't lead very clean lives. but honestly, if you care at all, save your body the shock and your wallet the expense and just eat cleaner. i don't do cleansing anymore. not that i don't drink occaisionally or eat not-so-healthy food every so often, but i've found that eating fresher and cleaner has really improved my health.
