Default Brass Monkey Thread

Here's an observation on Brass Monkey.

I think this is one of those tracks that the Beasties now feel "comfortable" performing. It made it onto the majority of the Pageant's sets.

But up until the Pageant tour it was not performed regularly since the LTI days. Here's the known gigography from beastiemania on Brass Monkey. It should be noted that the '94 Lolla peformance was done to different lyrics.

I think that the Beasties might have discounted this song for too long. I think the tide may have shifted when MMM dropped Brass Monkey into the middle of Root Down during 2003 Coachella. The crowd went nuts and I think the Beasties realized that it was a song they should be playing.

Can anyone link up the audio of the '03 Coachella Root Down/Brass Monkey/Root Down?

MCA obstinately tried to keep doing Root Down over that Brass Monkey beat during the performance in question.

I'm glad they lightened up enough to play this and No Sleep again.

Yeah...I'm hoping they'll break out She's Crafty one day. I think the crowd would go nuts if MMM dropped the opening guitar riff.

I think they should play fight for your right at their shows. That song helped them reach a larger range of people.

You will know when it's the farewell tour WHEN they play the song GIRLS at their shows.....just kidding
