crazy bug bite and equally crazy remedy
i was sitting in the book/movie store on wednesday afternoon, reading a magazine and talking to a friend when it felt like someone pinched the shit out of my right inner upper arm. i looked and nothing was there, but after a few minutes a spot of about 3 inches turned really red. a few minutes later it looked like a mosquito bite in the middle.. then that got bigger.. it was constantly a bad pinching/stinging/hurting pain. never itching. within an hour, it was totally gone.. then it was back that night.. but worse pain.
my boyfriend's mom told me about a home remedy that her mom used on her when she was bit by a jumping spider on her bike when she was a kid. she cut a potato in half, scraped thin amounts out of the middle until there was mush about the size of her thumb, she drained it and put it on my bite and held it in place with 2 bandaids. we took it off about 45 minutes later and the potato was dark gray and my bite had gone down a lot. it turns out her great grandma used this when she was a kid because potatoes have something that will draw poison out.. i tried it again last night because it started hurting again really bad and when i took it off 20 minutes later the potato was solid jet black.. my bite is barely there anymore and doesn't hurt at all. freakin CRAZY. i've never heard of anything like this.
oh, and even grosser and weirder:
whem my bite was like the size of a quarter even after the first potato dose.. it was on a vein or something because you could see the color change from yellow and gross to dark red and back again with my pulse.
