![]() fans-
I was watching an interview with Mike D and Adrock from May 2011 and they mentioned the Hollywood Walk of Fame and how it was surprising that they don't have a star yet. Adrock jokingly refers to a fee. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R__fJSuD5Rc I checked it out and nominees for 2014 are due at the end of May. I think it would be perfect, right in front of the Capitol Records building on Vine. but check this out, the fee is THIRTY GRAND!! http://www.walkoffame.com/pages/nominations http://www.walkoffame.com/media/walk...nomination.pdf Quote:
so here's what I propose and am dead serious. we all talked about bidding for the skateboard, getting a stamp in Yauch's name, having a street or a park named after him, etc. but this is something we can do as a global fan community. we list ourselves "The Fans" as the sponsor and start a kickstarter campaign or something similar. let's just say they are approved in June with the blessing of the band and their management. they would have five years to schedule the ceremony and pony up the money. make it happen, we can make it happen

![]() I'm a East Coast kid, so when I saw the Hollywood Walk of Fame a couple years back I was like... Cool. Shrug.
Is it still cool? I'm clueless. You know what's poppin' out there. I trust your instinct. |

![]() that's the thing. it's a tourist attraction. it covers a stretch of Hollywood and Vine and is for folks to gawk at and take pictures of
but it just seems right to honor them near the Capitol location and it would obviously speak to their legacy. It's also for a way for the City of Los Angeles to recognize that part of their history and their contributions to the community, etc... that LA history stuff fascinates me, just as much as the NYC stuff. it just seems right. and a political, expensive process as mentioned in the video...

Capitol paying for it would be nice, but if we as fans can pull it off on our own, it would be even better!

![]() i wonder how the money would be raised? it would be cool for them to be immortalized that way.. best guess would be to find out how others have put together the cash for it

![]() Until someone takes the initiative on themselves to begin the process and deal with all of the boring, upfront administrative work, none of this stuff will take off. I would do it for the stamp proposal, but just don't have any time right now. Either way, I'm down for whatever people get started.
Edit: That sounds harsh. What I mean is that these ideas pop up, get some steam, and then fizzle out because there isn't anyone (aside from Ms. Pacman with the PWR2MCA thing) willing to take on the work. Once that happens, I think people would be really enthusiastic about chipping in however they can. Oh, and the fundraising could be done through Kickstarter (assuming they don't have a policy against projects like this). Set a goal of $30,000 (or $30,000 plus whatever other costs would need to be covered) and create a pitch and proposal. Get it passed around the fan community and hope it takes off.

who knows, maybe all this is in the works by the band's management.... James Franco had his star ceremony today. If the son of the green goblin has a star, the Beastie Boys should have theirs damnit.

I hope this can happen. If we can't raise the money we can still put the message out there so it gets back to the right people.

![]() I thought that might be the case. Indiegogo allows cause based campaigns from what I understand.
