I'm vegan.
then why the fuck do we have canines?
They might be there for defense. All primates have canine teeth and all Great Apes are vegetarian. Primates also use their canine teeth as a status symbol - the male with the biggest cannines is the strongest and the aplha.
Another reason I don't believe our canine teeth were made to eat meat is the fact that we can't bite through flesh.
P of R
01-08-2006, 07:07 AM
Also, canines are only really used for killing the prey, not chewing it.
So, Turd, why don't you kill your food with your canines before eating it?
Anyways, I'm sure I have posted here before, but yeah, I'm a vegetarian.

Q Drop, when you get into an arguement in real life (assuming that you do), are you one of those people that gets their point across by getting right in the other person's face and raising your voice, somethink like:-
well, well, well?
because on this board, that is exactly how you come across.

And I only made it 14 pages into the thread, after that I just couldn't be arsed to read some of the retarded things being said.
The attacking of Zorra and Cosmo was childish and uncalled for, you fucking idiots should be ashamed of yourselves.
And before I finish here I'm going to throw in my 2 pence worth:
1. I used to be vegetarian.
2. I'm not now.
3. I buy organic food as much as I possibly can, and will only consume meat or dairy products if they are organic.
4. I eat eggs, but only ones produced by my own chickens (who are both fed a solely organic diet).
5. I don't have any problem with meat eaters, vegetarians or vegans. I do however have a problem with bullies.

Hey Matt. You're a better man than I. I just read the first page and skipped to the end. I felt like I had a pretty good idea how it was gonna go.
So, last month I was talking to my friend Troy from work. Troy was the kid who showed me how to do the job (throwing big heavy tires) when I first got there. In subsequent months I have become really good at it and it looks like some Martix shit when I throw tires, throwing two at a time or throwing a stack in rapid fire and having them all land right. I use about a billion calories a day.
So, anyway, I was trying to show Troy how I throw tires in case it might give him ideas and improve his throwing. He tried throwing that way and said it made him too tired. Takes a while to get used to I think. But, anyway, point of the story, we were sitting around talking after and he was excitedly telling me about the free pizza party that the warehouse employees had thrown. "They had CHICKEN WINGS and PEPERONI PIZZA, and they bought too much and they were just handing it out for FREE!" and so I told him that that wouldn't have done me any good because I'm a vegetarian. So he stops, and he looks at me very confused, and then he asks me, in all sincerity "Are you sure?"
I mean like I might have been misinformed or something. Maybe someone told me I was but they were just kidding around with me. Yeah, I'm sure, I've been a complete vegetarian for twelve years. He said I look built for a vegetarian. Made me wonder what a vegetarian is supposed to look like. So then he asked me do I work out.
*boggle*
We work at a job where we throw 25000 to 60000 pounds of rubber every day. The fuck I need to work out for? Plus I ride my bike 5 miles to work and five miles back. Like I'm gonna get home and lift weights or something. Anyway I found it pretty amusing.
Yeah, I'm sure.

Your colleague sounds a bit simple Alex :D
I have a friend who used to go in for body building competitions - the natural kind, not the inject-human-growth-hormone-into-yourself kind. Anyway he was brought up as a vegan, never eaten meat his whole life and he had the biggest muscles I'd ever seen. He got me into taking good quality whey protein as a supplement, and it certainly helps your body burn fat if you lift weights.

Simply mentioning you're a vegetarian will make other people think you're accusing them of something. Then they mostly start to act like real arseholes. Most of the time they try to tell me my belt or shoes are made from leather etc. or just quote some stupid oneliner they heard, there's hardly a gem among them. But hey, when I have non-smokers at my place I send them out on the balcony to do their nonsmoking! ;-)

Buh, yah some poeople are stupid like that. I mostly hate vegetarians for the same reason I hate religios nuts they think they right so everyone else must be wrong and they make sure this is known...Because if they think they are right, what do they think about you? Exactly.
I mean some do it to be "Healthy" , which also makes little sense, but most do it because they "love animals" and have somehow came to the conclusion that if they don't eat them more people won't eat them... else you are completly missing the point, you not eating a few chickens ain't gonna change anything other than let you sleep at night, rather selfish. So in a way you kind of are telling people they are all wrong and should not eat animals, and whenever anyone asks you jump at the chance to spread the word.
But that's just my view on things. I still think my sister is a dumb hoe, she young, she might grow out of it.

just wanted to add that i hate vegetarians treating me like satan because i eat meat, even after i express my desire to become vegetarian if i could, which i can't because i do not like vegetarian food, and they have the nerve to suggest i should suffer every day and eat food that makes me miserable, just so i help the environment and so i'm not killing animals. also get annoyed when vegetarians post their vegetarian recipes in meat threads. could you imagine the uproar if i posted a meat recipe in a vegan thread?

I've got plenty of time for vegetarians who do it for health reasons but the ones who do it to it to save animals lives/because they love animals... That's stupid. I dont even live in the countryside but understand the killing of "pests" that goes on to grow crops. And I dont care how "organic" you buy. unless you are purely growing your own produce and you KNOW no animal dies to produce it then your "beliefs" dont mean much.

What's the most disgusting thing to me in this thread is how Zorra and Cosmo politely say in the beginning that they will not push their beliefs on anyone, because they're not that type of vegetarian, yet people started attacking them like they ARE that type.
I eat meat. I love meat. But I would also never dream of beating the idea of eating meat into someone's head and tell them they're wrong if they didn't agree. For one thing, that makes you just as bad as those PETA assholes, just for the other side. Zorra and Cosmo simply started defending their positions, and people took that defense as an offense and started bashing on them.
Simply put, if Zorra and Cosmo came in here and said "ANYONE WHO EATS MEAT IS A MURDERER AND BAD PERSON," I could see what was said to them as valid. But they didn't say that. I don't see where all this hatred against them having opinions came from.

I claimed to be a vegetarian along with other things to show my self control and dedication to the people.

I've been a vegetarian since I was 15. I Don't eat eggs either and I'm one of those animal cruelty people too so I don't wear or use animal products.
I haven't had meat in a long time and haven't missed it either. People ask me if I miss the taste, I guess they've never heard of substitutes. My freezer is full of fake chicken nuggets, BBQ ribs, corn dogs and sausage patties and I love the way they taste, my dad loves meat and he even says they're pretty good.
Can someone explain to me why so many people seem to frown on vegetarians? They make it sound like all I eat is vegetables, and I can't think of the last time I had a salad. I gets my junk food on...

honestly, for me it isn't the taste of meat that i love so much, its the texture. soy products do not replicate the "grain" of meat and so can't come anywhere close to replicating meat.

i really hate vegetarians who act morally superior to other people just because they are vegetarian. but at the same time, when i look at meat eaters who automatically get all uppity when people talk about vegetarians and mention how they hate how vegetarians mistreat them because they are meat eaters, i just wonder: how often do these people actually encounter these vegenazis? you'd think that they'd have to deal with them daily by how distraught they act whenever speaking about vegetarians. i doubt anyone is really THAT mistreated by vegetarians. i think it's probably an easy thing to go to, because you can act like a victim, and somehow automatically justify your position that "eating meat rocks" because you're so mistreated by us crazy vegetarians.
and just for the record, i'm sure meat eating does rock. i am just a vegetarian. not morally superior to you people who eat meat. i just dont eat meat. and i don't feel like i have to justify the fact that i do not eat meat, just like you shouldn't have to justify the fact that you do eat meat. i am just sick of being lumped in with these vegenazis who i guess inhabit every corner of the world and target innocent meat eaters to attack with their moral superiority.
come on, we both know no one encounters these crazy vegetarians THAT often. not enough to already come up with a generalization about all vegetarians. because the fact is, only a minority of vegetarians are of the vegenazi type. a lot of us vegetarians are mistreated in the very same way that you meat eaters complain about.

I am a (bad, occasionally milk chocolate stuffing) vegan. And no one gives me any crap about being weak or anything as I am careful, and I look damn healthy. Also, I go winter sea swimming (North Sea, snow on the ground, whole shebang) and have a major glow going on. I'm in training to swim the English Channel (in the distant future)
Carl Lewis is a fruitarian when competing, and I bet no one gives him crap.
I haven't eaten meat since I was 6, and I have no big issues with meat eaters.
All I ask is that people be aware of what they are eating, that they don't turn away and say 'I can't watch that program that shows the animals being killed', but then still eat meat.
If you can watch it, even kill it yourself, then hey, go for it.
Hunting is far less cruel and environmentally damaging than factory farming.
Also, I think many meat eaters try to limit their intake, either for their own health, that of the planet, etc, only to be put off by the veggie police telling them that they're not doing enough. If everyone just cut out the odd meat meal it would make a massive ecological difference, it's really not a case of 'all or nothing'.

animals have always been killed for food. meat products have been around forever, you can't really think of a time without them. and their shapes and flavor have evolved through time. i think that people would put soybeans into different shapes and flavors even without meat products.

i despise PETA.
Why?
I mostly hate vegetarians for the same reason I hate religios nuts they think they right so everyone else must be wrong and they make sure this is known...Because if they think they are right, what do they think about you? Exactly.
There is no comparison between a "religious nut" and a vegetarian. People base religion upon their illogical faith while vegetarianism have a logical basis for their belief system.
but most do it because they "love animals" and have somehow came to the conclusion that if they don't eat them more people won't eat them
Actually, you're quite wrong. Firstly, animal rights activists base their beliefs on the natural of equality (equal consideration on one's interests). It has nothing to do with "animal lovers" or etc. There are tons of animals I generally dislike, but this doesn't give me the right to use them in whatever way I want. Secondly, supply and demand is a fairly simple concept. You don't buy, they won't provide.
I dont even live in the countryside but understand the killing of "pests" that goes on to grow crops. And I dont care how "organic" you buy. unless you are purely growing your own produce and you KNOW no animal dies to produce it then your "beliefs" dont mean much.
Thus we should stop buying fair trade products because most products come from slave labor in the third world. This is the nature of your argument.
Adolf Hitler was a vegetarian, too!
Hitler was not a vegetarian. He mentioned in one of his speeches that the nazis should eat fish like the Japanese in order to be healthy.
soy products do not replicate the "grain" of meat and so can't come anywhere close to replicating meat.
Now that's just untrue. Most of the soy products I eat have the same texture as meat. I think you maybe ate soft tofu. There are a few different types of tofu that have different textures. The soy products always seem to have a meat-like texture. Also, seitan is know for it's meat resemblance.
