Default Has Gas hit $3 a gallon by you yet?

Super is $3.05 9/10 at some stations here on Long Island, and up to $3.19 9/10 in certain parts of queens.

Madness.

Yesterday it was still $2.87 for premium here.

I have to fill my car up maybe 4-6 times a year but I'm still starting to eye up those gas stations that are associated with grocery stores.

91.9p per litre.

I'm sure that'll be more than $5 a gallon, so you yanks should really shut ya yap.

I'll work it out.

ok, I'm back:

I work it to be nearly $8 a gallon. I think they should equalise petrol throughout the world so we all pay the same

I just spent a 1/2 hour at the gas station to fill up...the lines were crazy. We all wanted to get the "bargain" price of $1.10 per litre before it goes up to $1.32/litre at noon. Craziness...

it's about 2.75/gallon in rochester....but it's expect to hit close to $3 by this week or next...and probably keep climbing....

i got a little honda civic with good fuel efficiency...so it doesn't hit me too hard there...

where it kills me is gas heat for my house. they are predicting recored highs for home gas heat this year.

i'm gonna have to be a heat nazi this winter and keep it at 65º and shit....seal all the windows.

65--luxury.

I keep the thermostat set well below 65 and then use a space heater in the living room (with the doors to the living room closed). I don't particularly mind sleeping in the cold so I don't use a space heater in the bedroom. I have one in the bathroom.

That approach saved quite a bit of money. (Because keeping the furnace at 60 brought in a heating bill for one month that was $500 two winters ago.)

Once November comes, I usually don't really warm up until March.

shitty. i know it's gonna exceed that here definately. having the largest refinaery on the east coast of north america (i think) definately doesn't help with the gas prices. i think it makes them even higher.

2.97, very close. And I'm in the ghetto neighborhood so it tends to be cheaper. It's probably 3 bucks now about 15 minutes north of me.

With one oil company hitting 35 percent profit last year, I hope they will be able to ride out every single thing that happens in the world. I swear they use all of the exuces as if the industry hangs on threads.

it's a fuckin scam...

these current prices will NEVER fall....ever.

the days of cheap or cheaper gas are gone forever....

and there is nothing we can do about ....except move to a new fuel source.

I hope to God I move in to student housing. I will barely have to rely on my car that way since I will be ON a public transit system to go to work (which is the only way it is any good to anyone).

And most likely, I will only use the car to go grocery shopping since it will carry all the stuff. The school is a mile away from the housing, so I think I'll probably just ride a bike.

Hard when that 35 percent profit goes to whispering in the ear of our political leaders. Take the current transportation bill for example.

Heat is one thing I don't scimp on. It's too important to me to go home and be comfy without bundling up.

Of course, I don't heat an entire house, either, so...

Wayne told me yesterday to horde as much as I could because of Katrina disrupting oil supplies. So I filled up at $2.69, and today it's $2.99.

It may just be cheaper for me to start taking the metro to school, but that would add an extra hour on to my commute.

a friend sent this to me today.

"Hey Guys - Just in case you weren't paying attention... The new gas coming into the area is over three dollars a gallon. So if you haven't filled your tank up yet you should do so tonight! I felt like a total redneck taking all my gas cans and my jeep up to Sheetz monday night to snag almost 100 gallons of gas a $2.42 a gallon... I feel a bit better about it as I drove by Sheetz today and the new prices were $3.09 to $3.29 for gas :-("

That sheetz was the cheapest gas station I know of around these here parts (and its not even that close to my house/work) I'm too scared to look out my window to see what the Exxon across the street is charging now.

It's a nice toasty 68 in the room with the space heater. But it is VERY hard to go outside of that room to get to the bedroom. There's about a 10-15 degree differential between the two rooms.

And I don't care--being in a 55-degree room in the Springis heaven but the same room at 55-degrees in the Winter is torture. I shiver. My back never really warms up. I take a lot of hot baths and showers between November and March.

And I am more and more looking forward to living in a warmer climate. I promised a friend that I'd do that in a few years and these heating bills are making me not regret that decision in the least.

I honestly don't know. I don't drive so I don't pay attention to the gas prices.

Gas prices are $3.19 a gallon right around me right now. This is insane. I might have to make my only trips to and from work and do the whole walking and bus thing. Luckily for me they just expanded the bus system from downtown Grand Rapids to the little suburb area that I live in, so it definitely might be worth looking into.

I'm taking a walk soon that'll pass me right by two gas stations. After reading these posts and the CNN stories, I'll be afraid to look. Like I'll stand there and half-look out of the corner of my eye.

It's the winter fuel costs that worries me the most. I don't have much of a choice but to cut back to as low as I can go without freezing the pipes (either that or sell the house, which I also can't do right now). It's going to be a brrrrrrrrrrisk winter.
