so spore is pretty cool. probably not as good as the hype's been making it out to be, and i kind of get the feeling that after i run through it a few times i'm going to run out of things to do, but still, pretty damn cool game. i played up to civilization stage tonight and sort of tinkered with it. i'd play more but i have to go to work tomorrow and i hate being tired at work.

i wish i had more talent so that i could do cool stuff with the creature creator, but i'm afraid i'm just not that creative. i also kind of hate how your stats are tied to the body parts/clothing that you pick. i'd like to be able to just pick things purely for aesthetic purposes and then worry about my stats and abilities separately but no, that's not how they did. that's kind of annoying.

So how many people are making porno creatures? I know I don't have the patience for Spore. I never have the patience to tend to anything. I heard it's really cool if you get to the final stage though.

I hope the gameplay is flexible and the environment.

Finished Trace Memory the other night...amazing game.

It makes me wish I hadn't lent it to an ex-friend. I loved that game, even more than Hotel Dusk.

Working on Professor Layton and The Curious Village and Super Princess Peach. Peach is great, playing as a woman on her period. Layton is a wonderful puzzle game.

I'm also loving Elite Beat Agents. Didn't think I would like it as much as I do.

EDIT: forgot, I got City Of Villains at Big Lots for $6 (y)

Super Princess Peach. Peach is great, playing as a woman on her period.

Indeed. I remember getting it a couple years ago to hold me over 'till New! Super Mario Bros came out and I absolutely loved it. You can tell it started life as a GBA game, as some of the DS features seem a bit slapped on. Still with that being said, great game.

have you played the japanese equivalents (osu! tatake! ouendan! 1 & 2)? if you haven't, you should, they're equally fun. moreso because the songs are all japanese and you don't have to be embarassed about playing a game that features "sk8r boi" (even though they're probably the japanese equivalent to sk8r boi)

This week I've been mostly playing Company of heroes.

that game rules. i'm too dumb to play it properly, but i love watching the replays. every game is like a really awesome war movie.

here's a site for some good ones: http://www.gamereplays.org/CompanyOfHeroes/replays.php?game=25

i haven't seen any porno creatures, i think EA filters them out. doubtlessly, many people are making them, though (surprisingly, i haven't, i've just been trying to make zoidbergs).

you should give it a shot, the game actually moves really fast until you get to the space stage. each stage is really pretty simple actually, they basically boil down to:

1) find other species/tribes/nations
2) kill/befriend them (surprisingly, befriending them is easier)
3) move to next stage

the space stage has a lot more to do (almost too much, i think), but everything moves along pretty quickly up until then, i don't think it requires too much patience. the creature creator is really the heart of the game, but even that's only as complicated as you make it. if you want to make really articulate detailed creatures, you can, but if you just want to make a pair of legs with arms sticking out of its knees and eyeballs sticking out of its elbows, you can do that and move on to the game.

it's almost a disappointingly simple game, especially after how much they hyped it up, but i still enjoy it. it's fun.

I've not played the Ouendan games yet, but thats because I've got no money to import. I'll probably get one of them once I can save up enough to get what I want from play-asia of NCSX. Shame that Lik-Sang had to shut it's internetical doors, though.

Aren't you lucky. It might be because I like to explore everywhere in games like this. I probably went where I wasn't supposed to go.

Star Ocean: Till the End of Time is what I am thinking about playing.

I had that game for about two weeks. It was pretty good, but not what I was expecting.

I really need to get back into RPGs. I keep buying used games, but I don't have to time to play them. My PS2 shelf is 3/4 full of games I haven't played yet.

Played the odd game of mario kart and advance wars 2 on the gba and a lot of Patapon and Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 on the PSP.

Oh and I played my first game of Metal Gear Solid 4 on my cousins ps3.

I liked the theme but, to me, it seems to be the biggest in terms of content and has the best level design. It also had secret items in the levels and the whole hidden world which I loved. I never got to the last level in the hidden world when I was young :( This needs to be rectified.

Man, I'm gonna go play DKC2 now! I remember getting that game from Kmart as a total fluke. It was summer 2000, and they brought out a box of clearance while I was there with my mom. a bunch of loose cables and controllers and stuff, and a few Super Nintendo games. I picked up DKC2 and Killer Instinct. Sweet deal, as everyone was fawning over the upcoming PS2 at the time...

Playing Custom Robo right now, wonderful game. Picked it up on a whim after I got my Wii. I was on a big Gamecube kick, picking up games I missed out on. I had a Gamecube, but it was my brother's, and I wasn't really aloud to play it. (n)

360 aye. I heard a new controller will be made for the Xbox360 that is comparable to the Wii's remote control. Interesting aye?

Rip-off, or just following trends? I think you have to ask that question when it comes to the new Avatars on 360 and PS3's Home.

Personally, I lean toward rip-off. I like the 360 and the PS3 just fine, but I don't think they need to lean on the Wii for their own success. I think it's kind of lame and very unoriginal for them to do so.

its a rumor. There is a game coming that at one point the player would need to twist the controller like a screwdriver and so many of the gamers came up with that idea for the 360, the creators deny it. I think it is just meant for the Wii but I dont know what other systems could it be used for. Anyways, you could all ways tap the button or just twirl the joy stick.

Street Fighter Turbo HD Remix is now being released for 2008!

Oh, I know. The mock-up looks pretty convincing, but I knew it was a fake. I was just using it as an excuse to spur a conversation about Home and 360 Avatars.

My opinion, Home will suck. Bad. I think it will turn out a lot like second life, and be nothing special at all. Avatars might have been cool, if they weren't replacing gamertags. Tags are and will always be awesome.

I was at UPS over the weekend and there were two guys in line ahead of me sending their 360s back for repair. I always feel bad when I see that. (Although I was returning my broken Kindle to Amazon and someone else was sending a defective product to Apple. I swear UPS gets rich off of broken consumer electronics.)

I'm not the typical videogame fan but I like my PS3. I was comfortable with the PS2 so it seemed like a safe choice. And the blu-ray looks great with my new TV. I wish there were more concert films in that format. If I was a youngiswh man I'm sure I'd be addicted to points and I'd have a 360.

Also, the weirdest thing, but I can't seem to play that game on anything else but a Dreamcast controller. I tried to play it on PlayStation and N64, but it doesn't work for me. The later games like Underground and Project 8 I can play on a PS2 easily, but the first two Pro Skater games are Dreamcast-only for me.

i've been playing scarface: the world is yours

it seems like a scarface video game should suck, but oh man, it kind of doesn't. it's a really competent GTA clone with enough unique features to make it worth playing

basically if you liked GTA and watched scarface and said "you know, this is a good movie, but it could have used more violence, drugs, and swearing," you should probably give the game a try (there's literally a button you can press to swear at people)

I don't think there's any doubt that SF4 will kick ass.

Except this lingering doubt in the back of my head that it will fall flat on its face. I dunno why. SFIII left me cold, but that was years ago. I really, really hope it wont be bad.

I'm a huge 2-D fighter fan. I haven't played any of SNK's new games strictly because I won't play a 3-D fighter that isn't Soul Calibur or Virtua Fighter.

technically it isnt much 3D. Its just very well illustrated like fine works done in tablet, plus rendered a lot. The only thing 3D would be the projectiles. Simply, it feels and looks like you are playing with artworks in a pixar environment. Its a great game I had fun playing it (y)

Sakura and Gouken in SF4. I'm really anticipating the game but I'm curious to see how it feels in comparison to 2 or 3. The parry option is no longer in effect, so you can do amazing shit like this anymore. parry was kind of glitchy and many couldn't really have control over it. I remember Alex said in his blog how many times he tried to do parry against opponents and was practicing with his peers and just couldnt really master it. Which says a lot at how hard it can be to parry perfectly. I felt diago was lucky but then again the other fucker was playing turtle through out the fucking match so in the end he deserved it. lol no matter how good he is that match will haunt him for some time. :D

Definately, got lucky on that. Its one of like the greatest highlights of fortune in that kind of position.

the Megaman for thats series of Capcom Vs will be the Megaman Powered up version. But I am not sure if this game will be available to USA. I heard that if the game will not make debut in USA then Capcom might create Marvel vs Capcom 3 which was stated in a Comic Con interview.

There is a plan surfing thru the internet of where Xbox 360 and PS3 will be updating Marvel vs Capcom 2 version for online play.

"The Entertainment Software Ratings Board website, known to be a reliable source on up-and-coming titles; recently updated their Marvel VS Capcom 2 profile, which now lists Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 under "platforms." Of course this isn't any sort of official confirmation, but if this isn't an unforgivable typo, it would hint towards an eventual online release of MvC2 for the Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network, complete with online play?!? ... Once again, nothing is confirmed, but this does give us MvC2 fans hope that someday we will be playing Marvel VS Capcom 2 Online on our next-gen systems with friends across the world!!! Can you say Epic? "

Here's a few I'm looking at: Dead Space, Little Big Planet, Saints Row 2 (hey Kid Presentable, maybe this one might keep us playing), COD World at War, NBA 2K9, Far Cry 2, Bioshock, Fallout 3, Siren: Blood Curse ( on blu ray, not d/l), Rise Of The Argonauts, MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, Mirror's Edge.

Too many to choose.

I think little big planet is going to bomb. It's no doubt going to be an awesome game, but so was Viva Pinata. The core users of the PS3 aren't going to like playing what is, essentially, a kids-like platformer. It'll get a cult following from discerning gamers, but largely, I think it will be a failure.

Or not.

I've been playing the demo a bit. it's pretty nice, which is good since PES 2008 was rather average. also downloaded the FIFA 09 demo after reading reviews that it was the better game, but despite my compy's high specs it ran pretty slow and had bad frame rate.

DON'T sign up to a site offering free games! It's most a con to catch out piracy. It's not unusual to hear of these site downloading spyware onto your computer. You'd basically be saying 'here I am, this is my name and I want Illegal games'!

Excellent news, ET. Metroid II has always been my favorite of the series, and with no news from Nintendo on the Metroid front (not counting the MP and MP2 "Wii-Makes") this will tie me over.

fable 2 is a lot of fun

i also rented lost odyssey...it seems like it should be kind of a cool game and i'm kind of curious to see where the plot goes, but i just got my ass fucking ruthlessly handed to me by the first boss of the game (some big lion-bird thing at the top of the mountain before you get to grand staff) and i'm kind of turned off. i can't seem to do anything to kill it, it has no obvious patterns or weaknesses, it just performs these attacks that take away about a half of my characters' health in one hit. there's even one that hits everyone simultaneously, and there really isn't anything i can do about it, i just have to hope i get lucky. if he wants to do the attack, he does it, and everyone dies, i tried it a few times.

is the entire game going to be this hard, or is this just a fluke? i don't really have a ton of patience for RPGs, i don't really think i want to keep going if i'm going to have to grind or get lucky for every single boss.

also, fallout 3 this week, and gears of war 2 soon after, i can't wait

It's been awhile since I last posted on this thread, and even on the forum.

Bob, it's funny you mention that, since I have been playing a lot of Lost Odyssey, lately. I'm on disc 3, close to the end. The game gets more interesting later on. As for your troubles, a lot of the bosses are easy to get passed, including that one, although that one is one of the more tougher bosses. I would attack with Kaim and Seth, and use your offensive magic spells with Jansen, and when needed, use healing spells from Jansen, and any healing items you have. The trick is, to make sure everyone is alright with their health points. Also, I'm not sure if you have it, but cast All-Shield on all your characters. Jansen will have it, but I don't know if he has it so early on, it's been awhile since I was at that point.

Like I mentioned above, I'm on disc 3 in Lost Odyssey. I've also been playing Mother 3, awesome game. And uh, some Contact. That's about all.

Bob
10-26-2008, 08:09 PM
but like, is that boss exceptionally tough, or should i expect to have similar trouble with bosses in the future?

Miho
10-26-2008, 08:12 PM
He is particularly annoying because you don't have the best of abilities at that point. I found that the level of difficulty with bosses in the game went from moderately hard to easy. Once you get a general strategy going for each boss, I think you'll do fine. I think it's worth it for the story, and reading the dreams you remember. Those are so well-written, don't you think?

Bob
10-26-2008, 08:21 PM
the dreams are pretty good, yeah. when i hit the first one (the one about hannah, the little girl that couldn't leave her room) i kind of rolled my eyes because i'm generally not impressed with the writing in japanese rpgs. i feel like maybe something gets lost in the translation or maybe it's just a cultural difference about what makes something entertaining to read (or maybe good writers just aren't flocking to video game companies, i don't know), but i'm usually not that crazy about it.

but after a few pages i got into it and by the end i was like "damn", so yeah, i'm pretty impressed with them so far.

Miho
10-26-2008, 08:24 PM
Some of the stories later on will make you tear up. They made me tear up. This was the first game that has done that to me. Not ashamed to admit it. The stories were written by an actual Japanese author who the development team brought in.

I've been giddy about this game ever since the English translation was released. I have to play it!

Also, what do you think of Contact? I thought I'd like it because it was made my Atlus and was compared to Earthbound, and it was the first game I got for my DS, but I can't really get into it. I started playing Rocket Slime and never picked up Contact again.

Miho
10-26-2008, 08:53 PM
It's an interesting game. The combat is as basic as it gets; it's an action RPG. It's the unique setting that is attractive, and the dialogue is weird.

ET
10-26-2008, 09:05 PM
The presentation and the music in Contact are what did it for me. There's a lot of grinding, of course, but that goes with the territory. It's a good alternative to Earthbound and I'm a fanboy of the developer. So I recommend it. Although Mother 3 has been great so far.

Mirror's Edge coming this November. Anyone amped to buy it or are we going to have to rent? In my earnest opinion it is a great concept but I wanna know how many levels are there? I really dont like short 13-15 leveled games.

Matt

Mirror's Edge seems like an innovative game, but not one that lends itself to much replay value or many actual levels in the game. I'd say it ends up with around 12.

Now excuse me, I'm grinding levels in final fantasy 7, and I want to get to level 20 before i get to the Mythril Mine.

If it wasn't for Gamestop's pre-order offer, I would have waited that one out. >_>

Also, Valkria Chronicles demo is out and also will be released on the same day as Resistance 2 (also originally was suppose to be released along side with Mirror's Edge)

I so badly wanted to like Contact but I couldn't fully grasp it. I can't put my finger on it exactly but it just didn't engross me as much.

Maybe it's because I've been playing too much Disgea recently?

I've been playing Dead Space this weekend, it's really good. It's like they got a huge cauldron and added bits of Resi, Aliens, Event Horizon and The Thing and then blended it all together. It's great how you have sever the limbs of the 'necromorphs' to kill then rather than blindly shooting everywhere.

One bit that got me was a part where I was walking down a darkened corridor towards a thudding sound that was gradually getting louder. I actually found myself hesitant to follow. It turned out to be a guy (with most of his skin missing) repeatedly hammering his head against the wall. Yikes.

I think the story (which is relayed to you in audio files and video files displayed infront of you via a hologram) is implicating religion as the reason for the 'problem' at the moment, it's pretty good although it's a blatant steal from Event Horizon.

resit it!

Okay here are the Horror games that are hot right now.

Which are also available for the PS3.

Dead Space
-this game has gotten some pretty good review but the premise of this game is very familiar (like Doom series and System Shock). I sort of wished Halo was like this during in a level where we must fight the flood. That be pretty cool! Also this game has been BANNED from 3 countries. For gore.

Silent Hill: Homecoming
-There is a limit amount of enemies to this game so dont expect a lot of action and from what reviewers said its got many different type of enemies and Pyramid Head makes an appearance in the game. His role in the game is limited to non-interactive scenes. The only complaints I've heard this game getting is just that camera angles tend to stumble on glitches are do something annoying. Yet, these are complaints I heard and not played myself so I wouldnt really know the level of its problems. But its still a great game - as they say.

Alone In The Dark
-Killing aliens and super zombie marines with fucking realistic flesh gore and realistic first-person motion visual. The main motive of this game is to reflect reality as much as POSSIBLE. That mean when you go into you inventory or weapon select menu, you will have to go pat around your jacket to find it and since reality has no pause button, you make damn sure you get what you need before you are left in combat. In this new version there will be lots of different changes and upgrades and some removal of little pesky stuff that gotten bad feed back from gamers.

Fear 2: Project Origin
-I dont know much of this game really. I've certainly heard of it but this sequel. Ok, lets go down to business. This game's environment will give the player the freedom to roam about the areas just like GTA games and Assassin's Creed. This game will have you reminded of Call of Duty's first-person shooter game play.

Resident Evil 5
-This game is not your typical cliche zombie movie/literature/games.
Think of it this way, you are in a african city in a hot humid day where there is a zombie infected virus passing around, and the city is infested with zombies. Unfortunately for them, you are the Duke Nukem ready to kick ass and chew bubble gum but apparently ran out of gum. You'll be accompanied by a AI friend who will help you through out the game and will heal you when your health is low or will pop the fucking hell on a zombie if it ever gets near you without you expecting it. The cool thing is your AI friend known as Sheva can be playable by another friend in co-op mode which is run over online. This game is still scary even with day time action or co-op mode.

further games to be planned.
Saw the movie game
- It will explain some stuff the movie series havent.

Ghost Busters
- being planned.

i caved and played fallout 3 for 90 minutes (which is how long it took me to get out of the vault, but i did screw around a lot).

it's really cool. the VAT system rules. at first i didn't think i'd use it much, and i'd just use the first person shooter system, but it's really fucking stylish and awesome. i made a guy's head fall off, and then i made another guy's head explode. even squashing roaches with a bat was cool as hell. it really brings a lot of the old fallout's style into the new style, it's well done. and totally optional, even.

i like how all the armor looks different. i had like 3-4 different kinds before i even left the vault and they were all unique. i could even wear a party hat.

anyway i've got a lot more playing to do. the effect when you leave the vault is awesome. i won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't played the game yet and wants to, but they appear to have put a lot of love into the game.

From what I hear (for what it's worth):

They fixed the host advantage by tweaking the net code
they made the shotgun a little less powerful but more focussed
Lancer spray holds you to your spot and slows your evasion down so you can't just 'run and 'gun'
Everything is a little smaller (characters and such) because of all the detail

i've already got gears 2 preordered, i can't wait. i even still play the first one fairly regularly (not online though, my internet won't have it for some reason, i lag too much...but at least it's cheap)

i checked out the demo of endwar, it's pretty cool. i might give it a rent. but of course, i can't play it online, so who knows how much it will actually hold my interest. do you know if you'll be able to download replays over xbox live and watch games that others have played? it seems like it would be a really cool game to watch. like company of heroes.

i can't tell if you're kidding or not about fallout 3 but just wikipedia it if you aren't, the series rules

fable 2 also rules. i like how they replaced the bows and arrows with guns (and crossbows). now i can finally live out my dream of running around as a dandy victorian gentleman, donned in the most up-to-date finery while shooting villagers' heads off with a flintlock pistol while my loyal dog pees on them

that's kind of a lame thing about fable 2, is it's too easy to make money. you just buy a few businesses, and then you automatically make money, even when you aren't playing. i haven't played for a few days, i'm gonna come back and i'm gonna be set for cash and i didn't even do anything. it kind of takes the fun out of it.

still, i guess i can go around and buy everything in the city and charge everyone 200% rent. i'm already as corrupt and evil as possible (i have swarms of flies following me, black veins, and devil horns) so there's no point really but i guess it's still fun.

i just love shooting people with a flintlock pistol though, it's such a classy way to murder people.

On a not exactly gaming related topic, here are some quotes of Glenn Schofield on the Dead Space film:
We're talking with movie studios right now. We have been all along. The difference with this is we need to go in and say, "This is not a $10 million movie." Sure somebody could make it, but that's not what we are looking for. It's an expensive movie. By doing this now, we could have a movie that bridges the gap between the two games. What we’re doing, say, with movie producers is handpicking our producer. We get approval on the scriptwriter, director and those sorts of things. If we get a AAA director and writer, I'm not going to tell them exactly what to do.Read the rest here (just skip the Army of Two parts):
http://weblogs.variety.com/the_cut_scene/2008/10/army-of-two-seq.html

Experiencing the quality of the production values DS had to offer (and "watching" the video comics), I'd say right now, this has the biggest chance of a video game movie not sucking AND the fact that it might end up being a expansion of said universe then another lousy adaption (which most video game movies need to do for now on because games aren't books; not much is left to the imagination)

Really though, EA Redwood deserves more the credit then the publisher even so they have recently been more on a good track with helping PC gamers on running Crysis and releasing new IPs like DICE's Bad Company (yes, part of Battlefield but it felt like it was new) and Mirror's Edge.

I'd be interesting of DS does enter the Dark Ages (or our Medieval age in human history)...then we would have to personally dissemble the damn space zombies...

Bob, yeah I was serious; never heard of the series or seen it. It looks farkin sweet, is it like an RPG? Do you need to have played the other ones?

@zount: headset gangstas.

it's an action RPG, yeah.

the first two were far more RPG-ish; it was 2D, you played from an isometric perspective, you clicked around with the mouse, and battles unfolded in a turn-based mode, your movements and attacks took action points.

fallout 3 is now a sort of merge between a first person shooter and an RPG. you still have stats, perks, loads of character interaction, weapons, armor, that kind of thing, but you can play the game entirely as an FPS if you so desire.

there's also this thing called a VAT system, where you press a button, time stops, and you can choose your targets in a sort of turn-based type thing. you have action points (which recharge over time when you go back to real-time mode), and you use them to target specific body parts on enemies. your accuracy depends on your weapon skill, how far away you are, that kind of thing. you line up your attacks, and then you unleash, and you fire them off in a sort of cinematic camera type affair. you can get critical hits that make peoples' heads explode, that type of thing. i dunno, it's kind of hard to explain in words, check for a youtube video or something but it really makes the game a lot of fun and i love it.

the game itself is kind of like oblivion, if you've every played that (it was made by the same people). only in a sort of mad max type setting.

you don't need to play the first two. apart from the setting, it's unrelated to the other two games, as near as i can tell. the other two games are also fairly old at this point, and might be kind of hard to get into if you're just playing them for the first time.

Kid, I'm downloading Endwar now from the PSN, it's a hefty 1.7gigs and it's taking ages (n)

Have you played it yet?

Also, I've just been playing Mirrors Edge. It's like a free running inspired FPS. It look awesome but it gives me slight motion sickness, although that might have been the beer from last night?

I'm not liking the demo. It just looks like they are trying whore on parkour up the ass and making this false ideal use of it and belief. I kind of expect many of the older generation of parkour will get tired of this shit.

So I finished Dead Rising for the second time and got the best ending this time. I loved that they tricked me into thinking it was over by rolling the credits and then going into overtime mode. The real ending left me wanting a little more closure but I was still mostly satisfied. Really enjoyable game for me. I'm gonna try and get some more of the achievements points for a while.

Still playing Final Fantasy IV Advance. I'm at the last area and grinding so the final boss doesn't kill me in two hits.

i wouldn't buy it but it's something differeent, at least EA are looking at new IP's instead of churning out the same old, same old.
I was developed alongside the help of one of the Parkour founders (see the guy from casino royal) so it's at least trying to stay true to it's origins...

I never had a fucking chance to face Kilik. I know for a fact like thousands of people play Soul Calibur constantly complain the newbs use Kilik up ass and fucking spam on their attacks yet I havent never face one before. But I could understand why you would be upset by the spammings and to tell you truth, I have experienced it myself like 2 days ago.

The top tiers of this game is Mitsurugi, Casandra, Azoroth, Amy and Ivy. There are three of those characters that annoy the HELL out any gamer of soul calibur and they are Casandra, Azoroth (spell check?) and Ivy. I wont go into further info on them, just those three have the most unfair spam attacks and it pissed the hell out of me that some dipshit actually fucked me up over 3 round of just doing basic horizontal attack.

btw, I play as maxi and mitsurugi and pretty much thats it.

Oh no doubt that its different and its very distinctive that this feels like doing almost the exact motions need in parkour like rolling after big fall to keep you legs from absorbing impact. My only problem is this story where we typical rebel vs government and these rebels are using new generation activities. Kind of how Mark Ecko did with Getting Up game and even that brought a lot of rants from writers and other artists but mostly from bombers.

Anyways definitely a rental for me. Now I just wanna play Little Big Planet.

Started on Mega Man 9 and Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People Episode 1. I can't believe I had the patient to beat the early Megan Man games when I was 5. MM9 was really hard when I first started playing it.

Fuck that, dude, Mega Man 9 is way harder than anything Capcom made before Blue Bomber related. I made it up to Wily Castle level 3, but I haven't played in awhile. I almost broke my Wii Remote into pieces playing that fucking game.

Also, started up Final Fantasy XI, it's an MMORPG. Yes, my MMO addiction got shot in my arm, enter hundreds of lost hours. If anyone plays, hit me up with a PM.

To talk about that a little bit more, I first stated, and walked around for an hour looking for a potion shop, when the game doesn't require you to use potions, you can heal on your own by typing /heal, your health regenerates, I WISH SOMEONE COULD'VE EXPLAINED THAT TO ME MORE OBVIOUSLY. Otherwise, it's a fun game, a lot of level grinding. And, you know, it's Final Fantasy. I'm obligated to play it.

Holy ass, Mega Man 9 is hard. This generation of games has made me a puss. I don't even remember the first level of Ninja Gaiden being this hard.

So much shit out now... Fallout, Fable, Gears, Mirror's Edge... it's the store specific bonuses that will snag me when I choose something to play. I still haven't cleared all of Rock Band 2's song, or beaten Eternal Sonata, or Bionic Commando, or Ninja Gaiden 2 and I'm thinking about what I want to play. Damn I wish I had more free time.

Still, even so I'd pick up Valkria Chronicles, the game that everyone will play though is Resistance 2 and I have to complete the story mode and do what I can accomplish in MP in 3 days before Gears 2 comes out and I would have to complete singleplayer and do what I can with MP about 4 days before Mirror's Edge come out, though I'm sure I'd have enough time to do what I can (and deaing with both R2 and Gears 2 or maybe even unwrap VC) before the next Tues day when Left 4 Dead comes out which then gives me the rest of the month before POP comes out in December.

^heck yeah prince of persia! I'm gonna buy that one and after that Street Fighter 4 baaaaybaaaaaaaaaah! Cant wait to see the tiers and be in the city tourney, :)I've decided to pre-order the PS3 version (whenever they reveal waht the free "LE" upgrade contains); given that the current-gen POP for the last 6 years has become one of the best multiplatform series of all time, I was rather unsure which version to get since I didn't exactly wanted to go to the same route as last gen (PS2 for 1, GC for 2, and Xbox for 3) but then I bought Dead Space for the 360 and I'm now more reluducnt to go for the Sony route again since also my PS3 libarary is short...though this means I'll buy either the 360 or PC version when the next sequel comes around.

I also should have mentioned Persona 4 though I havn't beaten P3:FES (Though 'm glad I didn't actually play a lot of the original cuz I wouldn't been a happy customer to know that my work wouldn't been transfered.

Anyways: Election day; an alternate timeline resonates of "aliens" attack the US of A and an alternate "WW1/WW2" resonates in a fictional "Europe".

I started on Blue Dragon today and somehow put 5 hours into it. I'm enjoying it so far.

I need to go ahead and finish Final Fantasy IV Advance so I won't be on two RPG's at once. I don't even really play the genre so I don't know what got me started on all of this but if it don't get tired of it then I can think of a few more I'd like to try.

mega man 9 is just like every other mega man game, it requires massive amounts of repetition but it eventually gets easier.

try beating it with protoman, then it gets harder, and i haven't even bought hero mode yet.

US software behemoth Microsoft has doubled a cash reward for information on the whereabouts of a Canadian boy who ran away from home after his father took away his Xbox game console, it said Tuesday.

Brandon Crisp, 15, took off on his bicycle from his Barrie, Ontario home on October 13 -- Canada's Thanksgiving holiday -- and rode east along an old rail line.

He has not been seen since.

His father told local media he had removed Brandon's Xbox, built by Microsoft, after noticing changes in behavior since Brandon started playing "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" online.

The boy started skipping school, stealing money and ignoring his studies, his father said.

A local newspaper, the family's Internet service provider and Child Find offered a 25,000-dollar (19,500-dollar US) reward for information leading to his return.

SEE THE NEW CALL OF DUTY GAME
Microsoft topped it up with another 25,000 dollars, the company said Tuesday in an email to AFP, "hoping for his swift return."

"Like everyone, we are deeply worried about the disappearance of Brandon Crisp," the company said.

Exhaustive searches have not turned up a single clue beyond the boy's bicycle, found last week with a flat tire.

Police are said to be examining who Brandon played with online. "Law enforcement has contacted Microsoft about this matter and we are cooperating fully with them," said Microsoft.

On Sunday, 1,600 volunteer searchers packed up their reflective vests and ended their efforts to find him, while police stopped their air and water search.

In an interview with the daily Globe and Mail, the boy's father, Steve Crisp, said he had not known how important the gaming system was to his son and how he would react when it was taken away

Experts commented that gamers may form bonds with fellow online players.

"This had become his identity, and I didn't realize how in-depth this was until I took his Xbox away," Steve Crisp told the Globe and Mail. "That's like cutting his legs off."

"This is such an issue that hits every parent out there, with video games that are starting to control our kids' lives," he said.

"I just took away his identity, so I can understand why he got so mad and took off. Before, I couldn't understand why he was taking off for taking his game away."

Now, Brandon's father says he just wants his son to come home.

Second part
=====================================

BARRIE, Ont. -- The nearly month-long search for a teen who went missing after arguing with his parents over a video game ended in apparent tragedy Wednesday just as Brandon Crisp's mother placed her hopes on a new billboard campaign to bring her son home.

A body "believed" to be that of Crisp was found Wednesday morning in a rural area within kilometres of his central Ontario home, said police, who added foul play was not suspected.

The 15-year-old's disappearance on Thanksgiving Day, Oct. 13, prompted an outpouring of emotion and support from across the country, with hundreds volunteering to assist in the search.

Crisp ran away from home when his parents took away his Xbox console because of what they said was his addiction to the online game "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare."

Charmaine Nolan, who works with the teen's mother and organized the public search for him, said she is "devastated" for the family.

"We've just been beside ourselves dealing with this unfortunate outcome," she said of herself and the other searchers.

"We just had a lot of hope and a lot of promise that we were going to get Brandon back safe and sound, so it was a very difficult day for us."

Nolan said spoke with Angelika Crisp just hours before the tragic news.

"We were just excited this morning because, through our company, we had organized a series of billboards that we were getting set up and getting ready for printing to post Brandon's missing poster," Nolan said.

While police were still in the early stages of the investigation the body was believed to be Crisp, said Barrie police Sgt. Dave Goodbrand.

"It's believed at this time it is Brandon Crisp, however there is other medical examination and further investigative work that has to be conducted before we can make that determination 100 per cent," he said.

"We're definitely all moved by this and the case has drawn national attention and we've done everything we can to locate Brandon and obviously a very tragic day."

Investigators have been in touch with the teen's parents, Goodbrand added.

"They're obviously distraught by the information," he said.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family right now."

Provincial police Const. George Silvestri said the discovery of the body did not present a safety concern for the community.

"Our indication is, at this time, no foul play suspected, but of course we have to examine every possibility," Silvestri said.

The body has been taken to Toronto where a post mortem examination will take place, Silvestri said after provincial police took over the investigation.

Throughout their ordeal, Crisp's parents had held out hope that their son would safely return home, even changing their answering machine message in the event the boy tried to call home.

The message was still on the Crisp family's answering machine Wednesday, urging the boy to call 911 and say he was OK in case he wasn't in a position to leave a message.

"We love you dearly," the father says in the recorded message.

"We want you home; we just need to know you're safe."

Staff and about 1,100 students at St. Joseph's High School, where Crisp was a pupil, held a communal prayer in the school gymnasium after learning the news.

"It's absolutely devastating for the school community," said Diane Legg, a spokeswoman for the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board. "The students are in grief. This has been a tremendous shock for the school community today to get this information."

Police first delivered the grim news to the school's principal, who then informed teachers and students.

Legg said students were given the option of going home early or remaining in class, and grief counsellors were to be made available.

The railing outside the school entrance was still adorned with yellow ribbons Wednesday afternoon, and a sign on the grounds read: "Crisp family in our thoughts and prayers."

Outside the school chapel, candles, flowers and condolence book were laid out on a table alongside a photograph of the boy.

"It was a very, very difficult afternoon. That comes like a real blow after waiting this amount of time," said Matt McCann, the school's principal.

"We've been promoting that whole hope idea. It's been very difficult."

Police had said that a woman saw Crisp on two occasions along a trail several kilometres from his home on the night he disappeared, and she noted the boy appeared to be having trouble with his bike.

The teen's abandoned mountain bike was found in the area Oct. 20.

As the weather grew colder and snow began falling, police began a massive aerial, marine and ground search effort on Oct. 19 in the Shanty Bay area -- about four kilometres from Crisp's home -- near where the body was found Wednesday. About 1,500 volunteers also aided in the search, but no trace of the boy was found at the time.

Police had received more than 1,000 tips, but failed to find any meaningful clues to Crisp's whereabouts.

Two local media companies, including the Barrie Advance, where the boy's mother works, had put up some $20,000 in reward money for information to help locate the teen. Software giant Microsoft, which manufactures the Xbox, later boosted that amount to $50,000.

Crisp's disappearance prompted a huge outpouring of support from across the country.

A Facebook group with nearly 22,000 members was created, and within a half-hour of the news of the discovery of the body, there were already 100 condolence messages.
